I was at 'small club'. It was a great night, like all aftershows are, but at the time. it didn't feel like a 'classic'. I think it only became that because it was the first aftershow to leak in such quality.

What celebrities were in attendance?

Al Magnoli
Linda de Mol
Rob Stenders
Kleman sisters
and alot of dutch celebreties that were on some hastily made guestlist by some PR people were rejected by the people who worked at 't Paard because they had made there own guestlist filled with friends and relatives according to the the people who worked there that night and gave them access before anyone else. Teh people who were at the dance party earlier that evening were allowed to stay but it werent that many people about 100, the rest of people who were there to buy tickets got a improvised ticket with a stamp on it for Prince's show on the ticket of another artist who played at 't Paard. a film crew documenting that earlier party were sent away by Prince's people.
That 50th year celebration of 't Paard was really great and they also played parts of Prince's show during it, audio only and showed the purple lovesexy wristband thing that people got that were on the guestlist that 't Paard made for there friends.

Small Club 88 is not a good release, because everybody and their moms already got a copy razz

There are a gazillion other aftershows they can release in soundboard.

Y'all ain't running a business. For a fan, it's not a good release because we do have it, and it's in relatively very good quality.

But from a business standpoint, to get that audio, really do a good mix and remaster on it, and create packaging around it, it would be a fantastic launch to a Bootleg series. Crystal Ball 2 is never going to happen, and that's fine. But these live shows are prime material waiting to be marketed out.

Sorry, it's the Hodgkin's talking.

I read something sometime about video (snippet?) copies of Small Club having been on Soulseek or a similar service for a while and no one noticed.

A 15 second snippet from backstage with some Paard people and bandmates (and a certain someone as a kid) with Sheila E. walking past a 't Paard van Troje logo before she goes on stage was on Soulseek shared by the guy (the kid shown in that footage) who has the recoding. Another clip was I think alos on Soulseek of 15 seconds of Housequake from the show. Video synced with the circulating bootleg. (I only saw the backstage footage from a mate never saw the Housequake footage but he told me that was also shared on there)

N is a band member's child? None of my business, I know, but that's intriguing.

@JorisE73 said a certain someone was there as a kid. He didn't say that certain someone was the child of a bandmate.

You're right. I wanted to make the hypothesis that he was (is) someone in Prince's entourage's child, not necessarily a band member's child. Again, none of my business, but that makes sense, given the amount of uncirculating recordings he has.

Not read all this thread, but I think there’s a difference between pro-shot, from standard video cameras in the club or venue, used for the footage on screens, etc, and real pro shot with multiple cameras on film.

Camden 88 seems to be on film, as it was part of the documentary. I assume other shows from the tour must have been filmed too.
These are the ones I really want remastered, like Glam Slam!

I agree. Big difference between video cameras mounted on tripods, vs professionals with film cameras moving around.

Surely a lot is single-camera shot, but at least professionally I presume. Either way, I'd pay whatever it takes to watch anything off that list

Fully agree, i don't call those one camera handled by Morris, Brenda or whoever was available 'Pro shot'.
From the samples that some have seen of the list above these were all multicam footage.

Camden Palace 1988 Aftershow as an official release PLEEEEEASE! I mean the Small Club boots are great documentation of a great show, but I’d rather get an official release of a great show that we don’t already have in great audio quality. From what I’ve heard of that Camden show, it’s worth an official release.
.
Speaking of, an expanded Lovesexy would be a great choice as the next superdeluxe style release. The aftershows for this tour were AMAZING. I’d love to get an aftershow audio and video, preferably two different aftershows. Plus the SDE releases get new covers, and lord knows Lovesexy needs a release without a naked Prince on the cover. Plus the 87 - 89 band was fantastic and got majorly disrespected in the release and promotion of the Sign o the Times SDE. I’d like to hear some more outtakes with members of that band and solo Prince during that time period.

or just release a standalone live release (audio and video where available) every month and leave special shows (like try outs or one off shows that were not during a tour) for SDE's.

Great start and
Personally I would like them to leave all the live stuff outside the SDE.
Prince was so different live as opposed to the album stuff.
It really deserves a different approach of output and tempo in releases.

The album and outtakes versions can make a decent SDE with more interval.

If people are asked about their favorite live boot, the 1988 Small Club is almost always mentioned.

I wonder if the estate should release this officially? There are many boots of this show (with even further improved sound quality) circulating, but this is such a good aftershow, shouldn't it be officially released?

Or does the estate not have an official SoundBoard recording of this in the vault?

A nice mid-price double CD, in excellent sound? Could be marketed nicely "the legendary 1988 aftershow"? With some nice photos, I would buy it (even though I already have 2 CD boots...)

What do you think? Good idea or is the market saturated for this already (as most hardcore Prince fans have this...)

No. We already have it in EX sound. We need things we've never heard instead of what we already have.

We have it in EX sound quality with a horrible mix, we need a proper mix to make it listenable in a home setting.

that doesn't quite work as you think it does. As if they know and care what people have heard or is circulating on and off bootlegs.
I think they should ignore that and just release everything that they can find especially these 'mixed for the venue' soundboard recordings in a proper mix.
