Prince the vegan

So, I've had a couple of emails this week regarding this;

https://store.prince.com/...her-jacket

I followed the link and posted a review saying 'Prince was vegan. That's all I have to say.'

No response and they haven't published my review (no surprise really!).

I think Prince would never have allowed this to happen. What are your thoughts?😎✌️🎸

He wasn't that much of a vegan. There was Haagen-Daas in the fridge at Paisley when he died.

And his shoes weren't faux leather.

Hell, did he not wear silk? It's an animal by-product. Did he not have honey in his tea straight from the bee's butt? He may not have enjoyed a ribeye, but he wasn't 100% vegan.

If you have a problem with me, text me. If you don't have my number, you don't know me well enough to have a problem with me.

I can't remember the leather jacket he wore during the Diamonds and Pearls period. I don't think he would have found it ethical to sell an Animal's skin 🤔

He may have been vegan at some point. I don't think he was in later years.

if i'm going to spend upwards of $650 for a jacket, I'd much rather prefer something durable and long lasting as real leather and not faux leather. Would Prince have allowed this? no probably not. His linear notes for Rave Un2 The Joy Fantastic was against using animal products. Then again all of the items we have now Prince would never have allowed.

Oh, so buying it is ethical, but selling it isn't? Got it.

Haha, it doesn't look like anyone has bought it yet 😅

As a vegan myself I paid attention to these claims. He was vegan at one point (liner notes for Rave one example) but slid back to just being a vegetarian. On some talk show he spoke of making omelettes for friends. Like someone else said Prince never seemed to be strict about his beliefs. He was a JW but was still boinking while being unmarried, etc...

Also claimed he was practicing celibacy for a bit there..

He was vegan for a short time.

He later added dairy and fish (lacto-pescatarian).

Plus every kind of sweets he could grab.
Welcome to "the org", laytonian… come bathe with me.

This is a leather outfit. It was made by the same designer who did the golf jacket. PLUS much of the Call and Response items were larger, including the black jacket he wore to Electric Fetus in February 2016.

As any long term vegan knows, most celebrity "vegans" are anything but. I'm sure there were times, but I'm sure there were many violations or not understanding or caring to understand the distinct lifestyle choices we vegans make that make us actual vegans outside of our diet (e.g. no leather furniture or car apolostry).

True story. For a short time he was on a raw food diet. And his chef brought him soup, but Prince didn't like it cold. So he complained. His chef reminded him, you're on the raw food diet. So after that Prince just quit the diet.

The world's problems like climate change can only be solved through strategic long-term thinking, not expediency. In other words all the govts. need sacking!

If you can add value to someone's life then why not. Especially if it colors their days...

This is true. My friend went to Celebration and was stat at a table with someone who was outraged that meat products were served, due to Prince's "vegan beliefs". Someone else piped up at the table and said Prince wasn't vegan/ vegetarian. A small fight ensued.

That "someone else" was Prince's chef in his later life.

Yep and it's a fool's game to namecheck celebs when it comes to veganism. It almost always leads to disappointment. Joaquin Phoenix being the exception. People who go on a vegan diet for health issues only almost never last. Ethical vegans very rarely slide back to what we would consider supporting unnecesary cruelty.
