i'm happy to see Gilbert Davison in place and involved. He was a straight shooter type...very respectful.

Who could play him without turning it into a bad Reelz "documentary"?

I honestly don't get why fans need a movie. Why do any of us want to see anyone playing Prince in a fictionalized version of his life? We didn't need the Whitney movie, we didn't need the Madonna movies. We didn't need any of them.

Because every single time, there is always someone - and usually a few thousand - whose first response is, "she/he doesn't look anything like them."

Plot twist: IT'S NOT A LOOK-ALIKE CONTEST. So that's already a stupid point for someone to try and make. For Malik to put in fake teeth and adopt an accent doesn't mean anything. Why are we so stuck on someone dead-ass impersonating someone like that?

Next, the Prince fanbase is such a fucking pissing contest 24/7 that any minute detail of the way Prince blinked, moved his hand, or whatever is going to be over-scrutinized to the point that - why is anyone even watching it if it's so bad? Just to pick it apart? That's how you wanna spend your time?

I get that Mayte is trying to make a living, etc. I have no problem with that. People can bark about "she's just trying to make a buck off his death." And the estate isn't? Charlies Spicer, Londell - all those people aren't digging their finger in the pie deeper like it's a virgin piece of ass? She has a right to tell her story, make it into a movie, etc. I don't begrudge her that.

But with the fanbase constantly going on about this movie or that, and who's going to play him - I just don't get it. We always get duped into this when someone famous dies. "Oh, they're doing a movie." Okay, AND?

I would much rather prefer a true and authentic documentary, in 4 or 5 parts, sprawling, detailed, full of never-before-seen stuff, and not a simple rehash of the Purple Rain guy. I wanna hear about him fucking 3 chicks at once, his drug abuse, him being drunk, the real details of his fight with WB. I wanna hear from Warner people from that period. Not everyone else in his peripheral saying, "he was very frustrated."

I realize I'm building the perfect storm here, setting up for failure or a let down. I realize there is never going to be a perfect doc or movie about him. I'm just mitigating my frustrations. lol

If you have a problem with me, text me. If you don't have my number, you don't know me well enough to have a problem with me.

Unless done properly, this will be a disaster for princes legacy. In this day and age. They will say she was groomed

He's already done that, poorly, on SNL.
He's also too large.

lol Exactly.

the movie probably won't get much attention because of that. Also its about her. How could anyone pick this up for a theatrical released movie?

I love Prince dearly, but let's be honest that's exactly what happened. She already wrote the book why do we need a visual accompaniment of a 30 something year old Prince befriending a 16 year old that he stayed in touch with, claimed guardianship of (so she could work for him), and then had sex with (once she was of legal age). Even if done properly it will leave people uneasy.
I read the book, and generally enjoyed the Prince/Mayte dynamic, I just don't think this a good idea at all. I can see the Estate blocking this - I hope they do.

Alledgedly blocked because Spicer wants them to re-edit it because he doesn't like it, and Netflix is saying "ain't gonna happen".

I second that.

A movie about Prince's entire life would be better.

I feel the same way.I feel that biopics have become predictable and boring.I recently saw a Carlos Santana documentary and it was fantastic.I prefer this instead of an ex making a movie about her life with him.

I guess that depends on your knowlege of who knew him and what that person/s have shared. Those who were allegedly the closest may not have been, and those who were have spoken.

pray God bless everyone. NO exceptions. pray
