Perhaps you forget that he's working for the estate. He's going to answer partially representing The Prince Estate - a company.

This guy did his work on his own and got the respect and attention of these people. That's saying something. The fact that anyone there, who got hired like that, is still out there talking to us fans on FB or wherever, and being a kind-hearted, non-ego-centric person (unlike Spicer or McMillian) is a blessing. The dude is a fan first, and knows the music. His two books are epic for a reason.

So do his answers reflect the company he's working for? Of course they do. Why wouldn't they? Michael Howe's did too. He has a responsibility as an employee.

i know all that. what i mean is that theres no point asking duane about prince feeling like he had to play catch up, or whether he felt he had to have a hit, or anything like that, as duane - because he is working for the estate - cannot provide an answer that will contradict the positive PR the estate has to generate. or maybe duane naturally only sees positives, idk. thats not a slight against duane, i value the work he does, and how he got his position, but the position he is in, will dictate his answers, exactly as it did for michael howe or whoever. i.e. once you are an employee, you have to be a bit more neutral about what opinions you offer.
