Allmusic.com reviews the Super Deluxe Edition very favourably, but at the end gives it only 3,5 stars in the end: https://www.allmusic.com/...0006123906. On a sidenote: The Super Deluxe re-relase of Nirvana's In Utero get's the full five stars: https://www.allmusic.com/...0006140108
I've also found two interesting reviews in German from the german edition of Rolling Stone (https://www.rollingstone....nderwerke/) and Musikexpress (https://www.musikexpress....e-edition/).
The latter article says Prince planned to release a 4 or 5 CD set of previously unreleased music after Grafitti Bridge - a step which Warner vetoed. Never heard that story before. Any truth in that?

Ahh, MartijnK was before mE ._° Sorry for the double post. - Very nice PITCHFORK review. - https://pitchfork.com/rev...e-edition/ - ''Prince’s hip-hop-influenced ’90s comeback is the subject of a new box set that offers fascinating insight into a prolific, if uneven, period in his career.'' - ''The Diamonds and Pearls Super Deluxe Edition makes the picture of Prince’s creativity during this period more complete but it’s still far from complete. It’s a solid study of a genius after he’d peaked creatively, but it doesn’t transcend that mission. There are some gems, yes, but we already knew about those. Too few are the diamonds in the rough." . "and the instrumental “Letter 4 Miles” is a straight-up jazz number where the band shows off its chops" . - Isnt it only Prince and Michael B? For those who bought the box: does it have all credits or only the generic ´Written, Produced, arranged and performed by Prince and the NPG" ? | |
