Chaos & Disorder in better quality (different master?) on Tidal?

I am likely late to the party, but I have just listened to Chaos & Disorder on Tidal and it sounds much better than I remember? It is in MQA quality -and although I know there is some controversy around the actual quality of it- I do believe this is a much more pleasant mastering than the original -very squashed- 90's mastering. To my ears it sound much more musical, open and pleasant than what I remember? Is it me ( blunt ) or have others also noticed this difference?

RIP Prince: thank U 4 a funky Time...

I just checked out TGE and it is the same there. It sounds better than I remember from the original CD (without A/B-ing). I suspect with the re-releases on vinyl they might have done new masters perhaps?

When it first came out there were rumors that the album was sent to WB on a CD-R... that was all they had to use as the master.

.

Which would've been fine, as long as it was fully mastered to red book standards etc.

I’ve been informed that my opinion is worth less than those expressed by others here.

I haven't noticed any difference through my sound system. But I'll give it a listen on the proper headphones.
