Prince on The Rosie O'Donnell Show (1997) - an odd moment in P history This interview is on YouTube. P looked like he didn't want to be there and got offended by his unpronounceable name being made fun of. And Rosie calling P "very cute".
Then I saw it was filmed in 1997 after the death of Prince's baby and his marriage never being the same after that. Still, P spoke fondly of Mayte when he talked about how he met her. Any thoughts? [Edited 9/25/23 13:54pm]

I liked how he put her in check for calling him "Taffy". That was a tough time for him, but he pulled it off. His performance was really good.

it rhymes with "good night." "Keep on shilling for Big Pharm!"

He wasn't having problems with Mayte yet. Everything started going downhill towards the end of 97, when she lost the second baby and he met Larry Graham.

Or when Rosie asked P how he came up with the symbol. "You were doodling one day and thought, 'That's it!'"

. I have always thought he looked like he was a having a good time in that interview and that he took the whole name thing in good fun, just pretending to be taking offense. Seemed lighthearted to me. . And that performance of "Somebody's Somebody" is out of this world. I’ve been informed that my opinion is worth less than those expressed by others here.
