Pick 3 songs you dislike Okay, here's the rules; 1.Pick 3 Prince songs you don't like. 2.Give reasons why. 3.Try to convince others why they should actually like them! Here's my 3; 1.Graffiti Bridge. To me it sounds like a song for an 'off Broadway/West End' production. Really cheesy and corny. 2.Paisley Park. I think he sounds bored and the writing is dull, both lyrically and musically. Prince treading water. 3.Jughead. A basic 'woo look at me, I can rap too' mess. Musically boring and lyrically nonsensical.

I've always thought that 'Come' had a great horn section and it is a relaxed cool track. Animal Kingdom, whereas it's not a standout track, I've never really minded and I think it's an important message. I am vegan though 🤣😂🤣 Great comments, cheers 🍻

Do Me Baby. Life o the Party is one of those songs I don't mind but I've never been drawn to. Do Me, Baby has been around so long that it's grown on me (like fungus?) However, I do remember a time when I would have agreed with you! Planet Earth, I love it! But now I'll hear Barry Manilow 😱 I'd never compared those 2 songs but I see what you mean 😏 Great comments 👌

1. Shhh - its just too over the top loud .. i would love to hear a quiet version, very stripped down
2. Guiitar - so plain it bores me
3. funk n roll - i just cant sit through a listen, grates on me

1. Rainbow Children Even though I'm a former JW this track makes me wanna puke. The music is cool but the lyrics ruin it (same goes for most of TRC album)
2. Tick Tick Bang The lyrics are wack and the song doesn't groove for me
3. Sister Dirty Mind is a masterpiece but this song is just an attempt at shock value. It isn't clever or subtle enough so it's just cringe. I would rather have "Gotta Stop (Mession' About)" replace this track on the album.

Since things like "Jughead" are a given, I won't list it. It's not even in my D&P playlist anyway. Never has been. For me, I'm also not touching anything from The Rainbow Children onward because it's only 3 slots. Sorry, it's the Hodgkin's talking.

I'm waiting on Fenwick to show up with "Free" on his list. Sorry, it's the Hodgkin's talking.

Ha! Trivial and I had a similar discussion about a week ago I am going to restrict myself to the dirty mind through lovesexy timeframe as after that, there’s just far too many… The only two songs in the catalog from that era I absolutely detest are Free and Slow Love. (Pretty remarkable when you think about how many songs were made). Free sounds like Alan Jackson could have written it. Or the guy who wrote god bless the USA. Not good….. I think the Slow love 45 came readily equipped with a “hows the veal” bib. There are no other songs I detest. But Hot Thing, The Ladder or It are very worthy of consideration. I would probably pick The Ladder as number 3……

"Moonbeam Levels" - i hate the awkward chord progressions...i hate the lyrics... the song is rhythmless, soulless, joyless, and funkless..and its devoid of any catchiness or replay value...Prince was wise not to release it. "Thunder"- when the album first came out, i liked this song...somewhere in time i began to hate this song...and im not sure why...i just cant stand it anymore. "Orgasm" - a complete waste of time and sound...irritating guitar soloing and Vanity's contrived sounding sex noises...P shouldve buried this one under the vault

There's nothing explicitly "rah rah America" about the song, but there are definitely undertones there with the whole "be glad that you are free" thing. Actually, you know what this song reminds me of that I couldn't quite place before? It sounds like a musical number written for elementary kids to perform onstage

*"Temptation"----Never liked it.The "conversation" with God is downright creepy and ridiculous.
*"Hot Thing"----I think this song is beneath Prince. The lyrics are too 'simple' and uninteresting....."hot thing.....barely 21....hot thing....looking for big fun"......really?! It's a lazy track.
*"I Rock,Therefore I Am"-----terrible,just terrible.

OK, i'll just try with ONE SONG... ahem... 1. "A Million Days" 2. The messy production and shitty bridge! Plus the childish "onehundredthousandmilliondays" lyric! 3. It has the classic Prince scream at the end

Hypnoparadise - The only song I ever skipped when I was initially going through Prince's albums. I find it incredibly annoying and haven't returned to it in the years since. I could put the whole Slaughterhouse album here tbh
Animal Kingdom - Annoying vocal effects and just an overall preachy feel to it that turns me off of a message that I otherwise feel has some merit to it.
Everybody Loves Me - I never really got behind the music of 20Ten where I felt like Prince was in full "remember the 80's?" mode and this song is no exception. Obnoxious, over the top synths that not only feel completely out of place for the 2010 music scene but also not even somewhat catchy like a few other songs off 20Ten. I'm just glad Laydown was the hidden closing track instead.

I’m sticking to peak 80’s, as before he was just learning and after his magic fairy dust was waning somewhat, so obviously some clunkers (albeit some classics too). Well, here’s my 3: Baby I’m A Star - overblown, self-proclamation of greatness nonsense that sounds like something used for a sub-par talent show. Pop Life (Fresh Dance Mix & Extended Version) - the album/single version is fine, but if ever a song didn’t need a remix this is it. I even skip them in my own extended versions album on my music player. It’s Gonna Be A Beautiful Night - what a piss poor farewell song for The Revolution, maybe it was intentional, especially Sheila’s rap. By the way, I think this is one of the most entertaining recent threads, given the recent famine of releases. It’s useful to appreciate that fans don’t always agree, one person’s poison is another’s champagne, and all that. There may or may not be something coming!

Guys, this is amazing! There's so much to unpick here! A few of my favourite tracks have even been mentioned 😱 Please remember to feel free to disagree and back up your choices with your reasoning. I, personally, love the song Free but I get the impression that not everyone feels the same. That's fine, art is always subjective. I might wait for more replies and make a top ten (or bottom ten)🤣😂🤣
