Japanese Singles Collection

I like these releases, after Wham!, Janet Jackson, Whitney Houston, Chaka Khan...: it would be great to have Prince, Alicia Keys or TTDA...

.
I'd only be interested if they'd include all the 12"s, and would be even better if they'd add bonus versions of tracks that were only promo releases – in other words: it'd be nice to have a box that would at least attempt to be a "Compete Singles" box set.
.
But this would require the Estate's cooperation and a lot of remastering work, so it's highly unlikely to happen in the foreseeable future.

Yeah, this is in the wrong forum, really.

Besides, there have been singles sets already put out by the Prince Estate. It'd be near impossible to put all this singles together like this. People are going to want 12" mixes, etc. And what about EPs? What track do you pick from "Cream," "New Power Generation," "Thieves In The Temple," "Gett Off," etc?

Sorry, it's the Hodgkin's talking.

I remember at some point (mid2000's?) that there were release dates for a run of 12" singles in cd format.

Not unlike that of what epic records did with the MJ 12" singles.

I pre-ordered them and then they were cancelled.

My bad! lol

Would still be a cool idea, though.

It'd be a huge package to put all his singles in one set. But, with the sheer amount of them, it feels - as fams like to say - not a good business move. Do you include a simple 12" mix, or do you include those aforementioned EPs? It's a gargantuan task. No doubt, a wonderful one were it to ever happen.

What would be the point? Just buy the originals if you want to...

I know it's unlikely it'll ever happen, but I'd include everything to make it a really comprehensive box set of all the singles. I'd include all versions, including those that only came out on promos and online too. Every 12" release (incl. promos) and every EPs should be in there with faithfully reproduced cover artworks, including stuff like The War or the One Song or all the online singles of the 3rd Eye Girl years.

Yep, this was sometime in the late 90's. It was a nice mixture of some US and UK 12"s and the artwork supposedly was a mini-replica of the originals. This would have been great back then at the height of the CD format.

I remember getting so excited when I saw ads for these in Goldmine back in '97 or so. Shame they never were released as such.
