Glad I'm not alone in not rating 'Cream' all that much. Very middling song in the Prince canon. Was a safe choice for a single I suppose. |

Well, I don't ever need to listen to that again. Not a song most hard core fans like, but the album version crushes this demo. I haven't liked any of the recent releases, actually. Last good thing they did was the 'Sign O' The Times' SDE. "He's a musician's musician..." | |

I'm not expecting much of this SDE. - "Alice Through The Looking Glass" as first single for the package was a mediocre choice, or it maybe is the best single of all the unreleased stuff... ? Ssame for the second single "Cream Take 2." Don't get me wrong, I'm happy to hear these two, nothing wrong with that, but it they represent the SDE as being the best singles to release... my expectations are super low. Some small hopes i have for the live material. Probably the third single will be a live song. - Antoher thing with this new SDE, I did't get the whole "7 Celebration" thing, that aboslutely had nothing to do with it. It's all so messy. no? Schoolyard new version i think lyrically will be differetn from the one we know? Maybe it explaines a lot more than what most (conservative) people expect? Can't wait to hear it to (maybe) get things clear. But never felt much for that song. It's that whole transition era from Prince's Eighties to wannabe rap-nineties that made me lost trust in him. What will be the next 3rd single release (in ten days or so from now?) First one "Alice..." was August 24th. '"Cream take 2" Septelber 9th. Maybe a live track? Hope it's not going to be 'Diamonds & Pearls' (the song), Although it would be logical, to get more attention on this SDE. :-/ Or (a live version of) "Gett Off" That would be great. It's the one track from this album that remains timeless imho. - Damn they should've waited closer to Xmas for the release of this SDE. Bash me if you like, but this SDE realease right now is too late anyway (for this year).

Maybe Something Funky This House Comes. It is featured in the ad for the set. I kinda of hope it's one the tracks I'm as excited for, Like Diamonds and Pearls or Horny Pony 2. Save the best stuff for the release day listen. Something BIG Is Coming. | |

I think the word "single" is wrong for what we're hearing at this point. I think of them more as previews, but they don't seem to be aiming for "singles sales" or even radio play.
