The Prince Experience (with WDR Big Band) is back

Maybe some fans didn´t know, but WDR Big Band had a tribute to Prince´s music called ´The Prince Experience´. It was a livestream on Youtube, but it was removed soon after streamed. I thought it had something to do with copyright, but they said it was because live streams are removed, but they are brought back after a while. So, now it seems it´s available.

.

It´s a real great show, where they cover all eras. There are even lesser known songs like ´Xenophobia´, ´Venus de Milo´ and ´Everlasting Now´, and obviously, many hits. And even songs released by other artists like Sheila E, The Family and The Time.

.

I know we shouldn´t post Youtube links here, but it seems it was an authorized concert. Most band members played with Prince.

.

St. Paul Peterson / Bass and vocals

Liv Warfield / Vocals

Cassandra O´Neal / Vocals und Keyboards
Ricky Peterson / Hammond-Organ and vocals
Mike Scott / Guitar and vocals
Kirk Johnson / Drums
Luis Ribeiro / Percussion
WDR Big Band Vince Mendoza / Arrangements

.

And WDR is a great big band.

.

´Real music by real musicians´, like P would say.

Forgot to say that they were very faithful to Prince´s arrangements, even in some details, like that jazzy outro on ´Pop Life´ that P used to play live. Great sound.

Yeah, it's pretty good stuff. Even though poor Paul was punched in the nose accidentally (with the mic) by his own brother quite early in the concert so he had to perform while constantly struggling with a bleeding nose.
.
Btw: they don't need authorisation to perform Prince's music (as long as they only perform officially released material) – no-one does.

- Yeah, the St Paul thing was completely unexpected, and it was on ´High Fashion´. And I didn´t know about the authorization thing.
