Deliverance songs

Would it make any sense for the estate folks to release the songs from deliverance at all now since everyone has already heard them? I don't know if I'd be ready to buy the album since it technically was already ( illegally) released. Maybe if there were additional songs added to it, or if the untouched Prince original versions were released I would purchase. Or would you buy it just as it was released?

The released versions would need to be authorized by Ian Boxhill heirs also as they contained some of his additional work, I think that would be in poor taste to do that just after he passed unless it was done in his memory to him with his royalties towards his family, I doubt this will ever happen considering previous estate litigation.

If the original versions were in a complete form and Ian only altered them to put his style on them, then I could see those getting a release

I would love to hear the real story behind this release....I love it but, how on earth did he think or get duped into believing, he could put that out w/o the Estate's permission.

Funkenberry mentioned him briefly in his podcast the other day, saying something to the effect of "y'all don't know the real story" while choking up, so he must've been deeply affected by what happened to Boxill, but he didn't go into it. I'd like to know too.

I don't know if that's true. The EP is on Prince streaming outlets. The estate clearly fought and got the rights to it. Just because this guy put some keyboards on a track or something doesn't - in any fashion - give him exclusive license and final say on a release. It means that if/when it comes out, he'd get paid.

I would save it for a PlanetEarth/LotusFlower/20Ten box set release.

Really? There's an offiical, authorized streaming version? That surprises me. Are you sure it's not a bootleg? I know you wouldn't think bootlegs could show up on streaming, but it's not completely unheard of.

Not convinced there's anything official out there. I can't see it on Apple Music.

It's on the Prince YouTube channel, right between N.E.W.S and the older Purple Rain release. Looking at it right now.

Also, the estate won the lawsuit to own the masters. So while the estate didn't officially release it, they own something that's out there. So it's a bit like any other bootleg. The estate owns the master, and someone else put it out first.

Honestly, this really is the album, in full, to put out. That W2A thing was nice and all, and timely, but this is a sample of something pretty great, I believe.

Sorry, it's the Hodgkin's talking.

Wow ! Went to the Prince Youtube channel and there is Deliverance album. I never knew it was there because, frankly,I never looked . I fugured it was erased from the Internet as best that The Estate could do. This deserves a release if possible.

Once I realized it was there, it's sorta the only way I listen to it. I don't have it on my phone.

Yeah, but, 'you'll don't know the real story' adds nothing except, implying he himself knows. So what's the point of mentioning even that. Silly...self serving in my opinion.

Interesting, here in the netherlands, when I click on your link to youtube I get the message:

This is what happens to 90% of the stuff concerning prince and those associated with him.
you can never get an answer out of the people who are in the know. as if each and every
bit of information concerns national safety. and all this 'y'all don't even know' is starting to
make me throw up in my mouth a little bit more everytime this sort of shit pops up.

From the bootleg tapes to the gossip of prince's limo driver to the colour of the sky over pp,
we ain't worthy to know anything about it. Y'all don't even know!

I should recheck. Because I was on a VPN the last time I looked at it and got the same thing. I will have to check without it next time or try another country.

You don't have to check for me, I'm sure you're right and that the video is there for several
countries.

Just that fact alone is a bit of a revelation to me, that the estate put this EP up on the real
official youtube.

I hope they one day make it available for streaming services or maybe even for a lossless
audio download because I love that set of songs. Great stuff nod

It's blocked in UAE due to a copyright claim from David Benjamin (a quick Google search suggests he is Senior Vice President Anti-Piracy, Universal Music Group).

I understand that insiders are insiders b/c they don't talk....i can respect that. What I'm slightly objecting to is people who let us know they know, but won't share. What's the point but to ensure we all know of your insider status.

because the claim is for Ian Boxhill's contributions, I'm guessing, and those might in some
way have something to do with universal?
