But here's the thing. The term "Super Deluxe" doesn't mean it has to be six or mores discs. The standard seems to be 4 CDs and perhaps not even video. The previous Purple Rain re-issue xould easily have been called a Super Deluxe. We got 3 CDs and a DVD.

I'm not much of a live music on disc guy. I mean, Queen is my favorite band of all time, but I don't own either official live album! Live music doesn't do anything for me if I'm not there in the arena when it's happening. But that's me.

If they killed the 2 live CDs, and added 1 Vault CD, I'd be in heaven.

I think they were just sorting evryting they found in the vault into probable SDE's so when they find some Planet Earth, Lovesexy or For You tracks they just sort them and dump them on the corresponding pile for a potential SDE release (or at least I hope they did that) that's why Purple Rain, Parade and whatever were already worked on years ago when they started sorting the Vault.

but why does everything always have to be connected to 25/30/40 year anniversaries?

it's not like that attracts more people to buy it and aside from the 1 headline or even
just the one little blurb in an article on it's release, who cares?

are so many more people going to rush out because Parade will be released on it's 40
year anniversary as compared to it's 37th year?

im sure some younger music fans will buy physical media (they are buying taylor swift records after all)

but most of the buyers for this old prince/affiliated stuff are prob older fans.

if teens want to hear some 90s music from a 70s/80s legend, they can do. very easily.

Release it as a double disc, with Prince's versions alongside Chaka's, then I'm all in.

i'm gen z but am starting to feel pretty out of touch with my generation and when i talk to teenagers i find i have very little in common with them

that being said, i don't stream and in fact pirate all my music losslessly cause i like having local files. i'm a big weirdo over here.

release footage that was left out of the movie,

The premiere footage, the Oscars, extra TV erformances,

more unreleased stuff +alternate takes of Album tracks like Computer Blue,

and more demo's to be honest, Demo's we've never heard before.

Restore the video's, maybe there is more footage from the When Doves Cry video, certainly they could use that to add to the unreleased longer version of that song, or the one with bass!

They should be more original.

Also involve new people to complete the whole idea, young peeps.

this could make it a SDE like never before.

But they should scale it up to something new, not only LP's and CD's and BlueRay's...

They can use this oportunity to be far more original and give a new meaning to a SDE, something like involving the use of all media possibilties, like streaming, downloading only, to slim the SDE packages,

like (new) edits and (new) remixes and all alternate versions of known tracks,

things we more or less already have.

If they play it smart, they could make this package huge, and give it a step ahead with a new approach of completeness. Hell why not something in 3D, create a game... (whatever, I'm not a media expert). make it interesting for all ages.

They could use the whole year and spread all ideas over several months, make something available for streaming every week or every month... why not, like,

extra 'other' live shows tworth streaming from that famous tour, for free, why not.

Sure he filmed a lot in that warehouse while they rehearsed for hours and hours, as we know.

I'm convinced ther is a lot more in that vault from that era.

This time they need to wear it out!
