A strange but amusing and simple drum programming was the 'Sex Shooter' drumloop, where he put the hi-hat through a phaser (i believe) - 'Ballad Of Dorothy Parker' indeed is mindblowing strong! How could I forget that, my favourite Prince song of all time. - 'Something In The Water (Does Not Compute)', actually that whole song... everythign about it is drumloop driven - What I also like about some of his drumloops is that they sometimes had a 'snare' missing on the 4, often replaced by a 'clap', like; 'I Would Die 4 U', and 'Something In The Water' It gave him a unique style. There are other songs, but I can't remeber them right now... - I also always loved his frist released drum programming song, that nice warm weird loop of 'Annie Christian' (in combination with that heavy guitar sound and organ, how fantastic!) I tried to program that one once on a small drum computer. Pretty cool sped up thing.

I had written a lot more but let's just say it got lost. With that being said, I'll simplify this time. Ballad of Dorothy Parker: One I missed but saw it was mentioned earlier. It's worth mentioning again Erotic City: Bassline captures most, but the ones who really know were already rolling their shoulder back and forth (with pursed lips) before the bass even drops. Something In the Water: Worth mentioning again. Quick and quirky, the drums/claps sound like water hastening its drip through stone; a sign of the upcoming devastation. What initially came to mind upon seeing this thread was, Here: Embodies the LinnDrum Prince feel while being separated from the rest in feel and, more notably, time. He captured the magic of the his programming peak (or stumbled upon something from the vault) and dressed ot up tastefully with one of his underrated masterpieces. | |

777-9311 for sure. Maybe the greatest drum loop ever made.
And since that excellent article (https://reverb.com/news/t...chine-beat) recently cleared up that David Garibaldi did NOT program this drum loop, as is so often mis-reported, and that Art Wood's flexi demo bears only momentary similarity, yes, in my book this is a Prince drum loop until a real smoking gun turns up.
