When this one was released it was awesoem to 'remove' the siren by muting the right channel and making it dual mono by copying the left channel and finally hear the bass slapping it all it's glory.

Maybe his coolest vocal ever.

The live version with Kendrick Lamar rapping is iconic.

Blew my mind when he played it in full at the Birmingham show on the Hit And Run Part II show, 15th May 2014. Was the highlight of the show, for me at that point, but then he played Electric Intercourse shortly after. Unbelievable few minutes of live music - sort of stuff that looking back makes you miss Prince. There may or may not be something coming!

Can you do that with Audacity? Sure, I use to use Soundforge to do that back then

It's a hidden gem for sure, super funky live. My favorite version live I think is from the Baltimore show, but will have to check, Prince and Shelby J mixing their version of Flashlight in at the end of What's my name, super funky, awesome stuff.

The use of the siren in Prince songs is something i never liked. Same with added live crowd noise, except for 'Pop Life', where it works fine. That siren in 'Interactive' album version, or in 'Rock & Roll I Alive...', one of the reasons why i don't like these songs. Wow! tried it and it works. Even the 'mono' parts give the song a nice and atypical Prince arrangement feel. Super cool. Thankzzzzz. "The whole problem with the world is that fools and fanatics are always so certain of themselves. And wiser people so full of doubts" (Bertrand Russell 1872-1972)

Really like the line "you never would have drank my coffee if I had never served you cream". Great bass in this song. "Man, the living creature, the creating individual, is always more important than any established style or system" - Bruce Lee

Literally listening to it right now, how funny.

. The mix sucks. Makes it hard to appreciate the song. I’ve been informed that my opinion is worth less than those expressed by others here.
