Gold b sides shouldve been p control, now, we march. Interactive should have been track one. Jughead and push should have been b sides

Horny Pony should've been on Diamonds and Pearls. Such a fun little ditty. OK, maybe it's better as a B-Side!

See now that's top-shelf Prince right there. There's far worse hypotheticals out there than replacing anything with that classic.

In the album era when singles were important, the B sides were profoundly more valued then they are now and thus often included deep cuts from the album, as well as extended and/or alternate versions of the single and b sides. More so than many artists, Prince's best B sides made the radio and even charted. However once the CD era dominated, his records fell off from being near perfect, as many of what would've been b sides or completely left off the album, were now included to beef up the track list. One imagins that if every album from 1990 on only included the 9 strongest songs (his most common number between 1978-1989) that these albums would be regarded with closer praise to his 80's output. Imagine no Tony M led tracks on Diamonds and Pearls and the Love Symbol album. And both those records at 9 tracks. And the no name era as well would've been more appreciated and less overwhelming. Even Emancipation as a double album in the order of 1999 or Sign O' The Times with just 11 to 16 songs. And the unreleased Dream Factory album with The Revolution could've also been a 9 to 11 song masterpiece, even without the tracks that eventually ended up on SOTT. An artist still shouldn't be punished for producing too much work when considering he still produced at least 250 songs for himself and other artists that would be considered worthy of inclusion on any album. That's 25 albums of 10 songs each. Name any other artist with that much great music covering as much ground genre wise and with an illustration of singular immense talent, innovation and influence.

"Ronnie Talk to Russia" is GOATed, his most punk rockabilly excursion. I'll go ahead and say he played a formative role in the development of psychobilly with that one right there. You can dislike it, but putting it in the same category as "Free" is too far. [Edited 8/17/23 18:48pm]
