Surreal dialogue between Prince and MJ (made by using AI)

A few days ago I opened a thread about screams at the begining of P's songs. I thought it was an interesting topic in itself (it had a decent number of views and replies), but the main reason why I chose to open it, was because I was in search for clean screams to sample and insert in a project I'm presenting here. I hope the administrators will be kind enough to keep this thread open. This is not just about wanating to promote my work (I know there is a speific forum page for that and if I'll get closed down here I will post it there), but I believe it is also an opportunity to discuss the topic of AI in realtion to Prince work and his persona. AI use of Prince's music has obviously already been discussed, but in this case it's not really about the music, since it goes a little bit beyond. It's an effort to revive him through words by creating dialogues that has never been spoken ever, which has been made possible through the use of AI technology. Of course this is an attempt at comedy (for the most part) and you can be sure it was made out of love. I expect nothing less than a shitstorm for posting this... I have been following the .org for more than a decade (much more actually) and I know how sensitive users can be and how nasty they can get. Still I chose to take the risk nonetheless, since - I like to repeat it - I made this work out of love for both artists...even if P has always been my man since tender age. While creating the work, I couldn't help asking myself what P would have thought of this. Would he have been pissed at this? Probably. Would he have also had a laugh about it? Maybe, at least I hope. He definetely was a man with humour. AI is here to stay and this kind of works are gonna soon multiply ...who knows what turn this will take. I'm curious to know your thoughts around this topic. Peace.

Prince was against being reconstructed in any holographic or virtual way. He's on record as having made those statements (calling it demonic).

Would Prince hate this: Yes.
Would Prince find this funny: Probably not.

AI might be here to stay, but you can be sure the the Estate wil block and go after any Prince re-creation. You won't see AI being used in creating Prince music.

They'll be against it until they decide they want to use it. Give it a year or two and Prince's voice will be thanking people for attending the celebration, and gushing about how great Spicer and McMillan are.

Prince was against swearing and the overtly sexual lyrics. There is no way he'd have given the thumbs up for the Versace Experience to be released. Where does the line get drawn? Do we want everything in the vault censored before it's released?

OPs clip sounds a little robotic, but then again, there are bits and pieces that sound like they were sampled from interviews. I didn't think it was particularly funny, (I'd have done famous movie scenes re-enacted) but the tech is impressive. It's interesting.

I wouldn't put it past the estate to licence P's voice if they got the right offer ($)

Words like "reviving" and "reconstructing" are wide of the mark IMO. Its just a computer "impersonating" a celebrity, No different to a human thats really good at doing impressions of people, can be humourous and entertaining but no comparison to the real thing

Bitch this ain't the movies

Did AI write the comedy script, too?

The concept had potential. It really did.

Also MJ voice seems "off".

The script is human made. AI tech has been used to synthesize the voices, turning text into speech. AI tech was also used to make most of the facial expressions starting from one single picture.

You could have Prince doing the Morpheus red pill, blue pill speech from the matrix. Or MJ delivering some of Morris Day's lines from Purple Rain. A Rick & Morty script repurposed. The possibilities are endless.

I've never played with this kind of tech before. OP is it text to speech? Or do you record a vocal which is then turned into the desired voice?

Here's a slightly better execution of this concept on YouTube:

"Prince" looks more like Andre Cymone in that video

The Prince side of the dialogue sounded just like Prince. The MJ side, didn't sound like him at all to me, sounded like an actual woman impersonating MJ.

I don't know. But there are companies who will record people's grandparents (for example) and use AI to enable people to have conversations with their loved ones after their Death. Enabling family stories to be passed down in the voices of the people who lived it.

I don't think the tech is where it needs to be just yet. But I wouldn't rule out the estate releasing "The Beautiful Ones" as an audiobook with Prince as the narrator.

That's what MJ (and the entire Jackson family) sound like. Very soft, feminine voices.

I was thinking, with the way technology is headed, they don't even need actors anymore. Imagine watching an AI generated Prince biopic that captures his voice, mannerisms down to the T.

It's probably not something I would be personally interested in. But it does kind of make you wonder. AI technology is only going to get better so where does it end? What's going to be possible in 5, 10, 20 years down the line.

Well, turn on the news - there is currently a writers and actors strike . . . one of their concerns is AI.

Certain movie studios want to pay the actor ONE DAY'S PAY to scan them, record their voices, and do the rest in AI with no further payments to the actor - ever.

Yes I've heard that and that's where we're headed however I don't think they even need the original actors anymore. There is enough data going on from social media and youtube to scan images and create brand new people just like they're doing with AI art programs like midjourney.
