your fave tony m parts? In anticipation of the d+p sde, and thinkpieces on tony, what are your favourite tony m moments? I think he had a good voice actually, though too much of it, and it becomes too contrasting with princes voice, which had the opposite kind of texture/grain So i genuinely like his lines on gett off, he really adds to that song perfectly Shame there was not more of that kind of sparse interplay But i dont mind his verses on sexy mf and my name is prince Not like either song is serious, both are kinda silly, so its not like a guest rap gets in the way of anything. I dont mind him doing chants like wave your hands in the air either.

Love: Gett Off
Like: Sexy M. F. Hate: Push, My Name is Prince, The Sacrifice of Victor (though I really like those songs, Tony makes it hard for me to listen to them). [Edited 7/4/23 1:49am] NPG Radio:

I don't mind Tony. I think Goldnigga is a great album. My Name is Prince is my favourite Tony performance. Something BIG Is Coming.

"Love 2 The 9s" didnt need any rap at all...Prince, Tony M and Mayte ALL desecrated that beautiful masterpiece by rapping on it.. And wtf does "lemme see that booty boom" even mean??

Yeah, ouch on L2T9's.... just ouch on a beautiful one
The only one I can take is Sexy MF because it feels like it 'belongs', I have a hard time when it seems like there is a rap part tacked on to the end of a random song which for me drastically damages 91-93

Love 2 the 9s and daddy pop both have great climaxes but get ruined by unnecessary rapping

The best Tony M rap performance goes toooooo: "My Name Is Prince" The worst in on that (Alt. Dub Version) of "Martika's Kitchen" "Whatever skin we're in
we all need 2 b friends" | |

My favorite Tony M. moment is when he left the band. [Edited 7/4/23 14:15pm] Sorry, it's the Hodgkin's talking.

yeah, that one kinda fits the mood i mean, is it essential? no. but then, most guest raps arent that essential (in my view... i mean do i need jay-z on umbrella? no. do i need clipse on like i love u? no. do i need petey pablo on goodies? definitely no).

I only like him on Goldnigga. I like rap so his other appearances are far too egregiously cornball, I'd rather have Prince rapping. Goldnigga with the overall vibe his stuff feels more smooth beat poetry-esque than his/Prince's attempt at Top 40 "bars". [Edited 7/4/23 16:42pm]

Call The Law! Not perfect but great b-side with tip-top drums and guitar. And Tony raps a half-decent story about selling spaghetti. I think the choir wanna sing

There's gotta be at least one if not 2-3 complete Tony M. solo LPs produced by DJ Jazzy Nelson the Originale phresh Prince himself in the Vault, right?

i mean, yeah, if we are wanting the SDEs to be definitive, and do the eras COMPLETE justice, then everything should be in there. or at least it needs to be representative. i need 70 mins of pure tony. there has to be in fact MORE songs with MORE tony than we know. maybe they are good? either way, the public must be allowed to decide.

There is a lot more with Tony on. P used him on a lot of projects. Like Day Tripper with Margie Cox/Flash as well as Martika, Mavis, Carmen. . There was talk at the time of including Mary J and Tupac in the Goldnigga project. . He also had 2 tracks included on the Hoop Dreams album. These had no P involvement but Eric Leeds and Ricky & Paul Peterson were.
