He was still on fire for Graffiti Bridge (speaking of the album only), D&P, prince, Come and TGE (and you could even throw The Black Album proper release in that timeframe, even though I file it after SOTT).

So much amazing music in just this 4-5 year period. I need to revisit this today!

I consider an article about "Prince in the 90s" a colossal failure when the first four paragraphs are devoted to Batman and The Black Album. I think some Purple Rain singles got maxi-CD treatments in the 90s, too, let's not omit those either. The Hits/The B-Sides, prime 90s Prince right there...

This article is 1/3 done before they even address the 90s wtf is this.

[edit]

I scrolled to the end of the article and it concludes at the end of 1991?! WTF bruh. Clickbait false advertising trash.

D&P was the worst of the 90s, too. Regardless of how many zoomers want to cite its chart placements like they jacked the average MJ fan playbook. My least anticipated SDE bar none.

Diamonds and pearls mustve been pretty bad.So bad that it sold so much that was in fact Prince's best selling album of the 90's
Let's not forget the hit songs like cream, gett off,and diamonds and pearls

When was the last time you listened to the D&P album? Very underated imo.It gets a bad rep because of Tony m but that was a phenomenal era

The worst Prince album of the 90's has to be Rave un2 the joy fantastic

lol Rave un2 the Joy Fantastic is so underrated. It was bright-and/or-summery today so you know I had to bump a lil "So Far, So Pleased" ft. Gwenny gwen gwenn.

Dude I just called out this "hot take" right above you.

It's so cringe seeing Prince fans turn into MJ-fan-esque statisticians like clockwork every time the subject of this LP comes up. "UM LET'S SEE HERE top o theeee charts in the US, Australia and Bosnia and #1 Top 40 hit 'Cream' and 'Diamonds & Pearls' and #3 in the UK.." blahblahblahblah.

And herrree's why it's a cringe take for Prince fans--by this frame of logic, is "If I Was Your Girlfriend" his worst single? SOTT and Parade and Lovesexy were his lowest-selling 80s records since his mainstream breakthrough with 1999. All three trash albums amirite? The org's know Rave was a flop, now it's starting to add up why this is derided as worst of the 90s now that I got insight on the perspective, see, you're educating.

In fact, now that we're starting to work back into a frame of reality, I mean, how many "hits" did he have after "The Most Beautiful Girl in the World" anyway? Hit records? Maybe the 80s junkeez had a point all these years I mean, he kinda stopped selling period after 1994 so therefore, anything post-1994? Totally irrelevant. Sorry I don't make the rules. If this material mattered the masses would have bought it in droves Purple Rain style. Post-1994 might trulty be a fail on a "If I Was Your Girlfriend" level. Don't mash the reply button to correct my stats, acknowledge the sentiment here.

I love SOTT but ehhhuuhmmmmmmmmerrr yeah Is a record that barely went platinum really worthy of eclipsing the mighty Diamonds & Pearls?? Plus if SOTT as a double album was counted twice then really mathematically D&P's gotta be 4x as good, can it really make the Top 5 with that kind of indisputable fact. I mean this is why we have stats, so MJ fans can unequivically put us in our places with who the true GOAT is. Truthfully, Prince vs. MJ, only like prime Backstreet Boys were really on an MJ level, it should be like Prince vs. Chumbawamba or Third Eye Blind. Prince vs. Andrew WK might be more apropos...

[also Tony M. doesn't "ruin" trax for me like it does other famz btw. I love Love Symbol and quite enjoy sum Goldnigga]

[also also Rave sodamngood. The org falls hook-line for this "real music, real musicians" propaganda hypoparadise whining about drum machines and plastic production when the entire beloved 80s was friggin' programmed and preset and techy. 80s tech, but 80s plastic nonetheless. Now it's wahwah Rave too plasic, k. P.S. Exodus sux, too.]

Oh no you didn't!
I happen to be a fan of Rave.I actually like all of the 90's albums and exodus kicks ass.
You probably wouldn't be saying it sucked if it were Prince's vocals and not sonny t

I know you realize this but the reason diamonds and pearls is the rumored next SE release is because it sold the most in the 90's.Its perfectly logical for the estate to release.I know a lot of fans are upset by that and are stuck in the 80's.They want that Parade release so badly

But I'm in the minority that has a strong feeling the diamonds and pearls release will have some great unreleased gems included

Then there's the argument that it won't sale good
Well guess what Mr smarty pants? All the prince fans that bought the sign of the times Special deluxe edition will buy the diamonds and pearls release too
They may complain about it but they will buy it
