I stand by what I said. I know some fans think prince could do no wrong but he made a lot of career mistakes UTCM not being released in color Changing his name to a symbol Keeping his music off of YouTube for years Greatest entertainer, musician, greatest guitar players but he did have flaws like everyone else

That's your opinion. UTCM being released in black and white is exactly what Prince was going for (old french classic movies).

Do you honestly think it would have fared better if it had been in color ? It was still going to be the same botched editing.

I really do think UTCM would've been a success had it been filmed in color and they stuck with the original happy ending
Especially with the France setting.
I say that with under the cherry moon being my favorite Prince movie

There is about 30 minutes of footage in circulation of the vingettes that were shot at Prince's house and to be shown between some of the concert footage. Multiple takes of the following scenes:

1. Prince holding hands with Susan Moonsie and Kim Upsher. They walk into a room with a bright white light behind them. As Prince walks away, white smoke/fog from the bright white room follows him and Susan waves goodbye to him and Kim raises her dress and waves it at him and they both look as if they're in a trance. Susan is wearing pink lingerie and Kim is wearing a loose fitting white dress.

2. Prince and Susan pop up into the camera and Prince takes his skinny bow tie from around his neck and ties it around Susans neck while Kim looks on seductively at the both of them. Prince takes the bubble gum out of his mouth and shoves it into Susan's mouth.

3. The camera starts down at Prince's white boots and slowly pans up (showing a blue bandanna tied around one leg and and a red one tied around the other leg.) When it gets to Prince's hip, he pulls back his black trenchcoat and shows off his waist chain, and with the leg warmers and bikini briefs on, the angle makes it looks as if he's not wearing underwear and showing off the side of his ass cheek. As the camera pans up to Prince's face, he's twirling his bubblegum around his index finger from his mouth while staring into the camera seductively.

4. Prince blows bubbles with his bubblegum and tries to see how big he can get it before it bursts. Everytime it bursts prematurely he rolls his eyes and starts over.

5. Prince standing at a dresser and the camera starts at his waist. He puts something that looks like black panties into his pocket. The camera pans down, showing the buttons on Prince's pants and as it reaches his white boots on the purple carpet, he turns to walk out the door. The camera pans up as he's walking but his face is never shown. As he walks out the door, the camera stops and slowly zooms in on the poster of Prince and the band that was used for the Let's Work 12 inch.

There is no audio, a timecode is running at the bottom of the screen, and there is a water mark at the top and middle of the screen. One version I saw had the water marks blurred out so it made it hard to watch the footage. The other version I saw didn't have the blur, but the

I heard these 5 scenes are edited into one video - and in an endless loop unfortunate foes of the US of A are tortured by the CIA having to watch this round the clock - mixed-in background sound is the world-famous track "Orgasm" from the Come album

I'm more interested in a crystal clear version of the a capella track than the half-baked "movie", but it would be fun to have both.

it would be a great idea for the estate to release a Controversy SDE,with the Second Coming movie footage as the DVD.All they have to do is take the existing footage and pair it with a live Controversy show.

A shitface stoned Prince cavorting about with a couple of girls.. no thanks.
The concert footage might be a bit more interesting, but really, there are a lot of other projects that I'd like to see released rather than this.

Formerly TheDigitalGardener etc.

I don’t know if it would have been successful but I think that UTCM in color would have had more appeal to the general public.A black and white movie was a hard sell to audiences in 1986.

But I thought Prince didn't get stoned.

For that reason alone, it will never be released, not a good look for his "clean" image.

The Time and Zapp And Roger Troutman were the opening acts for Prince's Controversy Tour. I hope their sets were filmed and would be a great idea for the estate to include those if were released!

many successful indie movies in the mid 80s or so were in black and white

They were art films by ppl who most like have some kind of film degree of have a lot of experience in film. Not quite the same concept as creating an album. And I love UTCM but not for it's film concept to be honest.
Time keeps on slipping into the future...

This moment is all there is...

all the albums from 78 to 1990 should have SDE editions. this should be a minimum target for the estate. if they can do that at least, then that would be something. beyond that, well lets see. but it looks like even doing this is a struggle. they should have a campaign and schedule really, but it looks like if they do, they definitely wont let anyone know, in the name of princely secrecy or marketing games or whatever, who knows. still going to be a BIG YEAR though right? lol lol lol
