RIP Ian Boxill

"So this one hurts. Ian Boxill passed away. Ian not only was the engineer of @prince's last #1 album "3121", & worked on "Planet Earth", which P won a grammy for, (his last grammy win) & the "Deliverance" project, along with MANY countless unreleased Prince songs, his credits of the artists he worked with are miles long. Thank U Ian for the important work U did. I valued the time I spent with U and appreciate U. #FunkCancer"

Fully agree! What he did with the tracks was great and it would be cool if the Estate released these tracks officially as a tribute to him and Prince, both versions with and without his vontribitions to the tracks.

.
I seriously doubt they would pay tribute to someone they had to sue not too long ago.
.
Boxill (RIP) seemed like a genuinely nice guy โ€“ I just watched an interview with him โ€“ and yes, Deliverance sounds nice too, but to be honest I still can't understand how on earth he thought he would be able to get away with releasing it and with claiming cowriting credits for it too, that was just mind boggling. I can only think that although he was a nice guy and a good engineer, he must've been totally incompetent in the legal side of things, otherwise he would've realised how wrong he was to make those claims.

Yes, the monent I posted this I remembered they sued him for Deliverance.
But then again if they really want to drive that point home they should release the original versions without Boxills additions, that would be a typical the Estate asshole move that I expect of them by now.

That's one way to conclude litigation. Deliverance was brilliant and well timed to help my healing from the loss of Prince. I wish he was actually allowed to rework material and got access to more unfiinished work, or alt takes, whatever they were. I really loved the way he used the Twinz vocals too.

Deliverance was one of my favorite Prince things in years. Thanks to Ian Boxill for getting it out there and to hell with those that sued him.

That song Deliverance..I have said it so many - SO MANY - times...amazing Prince could record something that great and just shelve it for the remainder of his life. It just tells me he was supremely confident of his own ability to come up with the next great song. The SDE releases have proven this over and over again.

Deliverance is great, I agree.
But don't be silly โ€“ OF COURSE the estate sued him, they had to. Probably he had received the wrong legal advice that went against everything (laws, ethics and common sense too).
