The Gold Experience Vinyl Reissue Question

Before I commit to buying like the 7th version of this...does anyone know if there is a liner with the origibal artwork and lyrics included? Or just sleeves...?

Thanks in advance... lol

Inner sleeves are identical to the original ones (with lyrics, prictures and introduction). Shiny paper that has a lot of static (sticks like mad).

Unfortunately, the artwork of the new LP is of a much lower quality than the original - as is often the case with older albums, the cover is a blown-up or scanned picture and has lost a lot of its detail. It's not disastrous, but if you put the original and this release next to each other, the difference is very noticeable ...

I have played it yet, so I can't comment on the vinyul itelsef.

My copy came today. I started with LP two (only so much time to listen today) -- aside from a couple pops during Eye Hate U, which will hopefully go away with a cleaning, it sounds great! Nice and dynamic.

The inners static was the worst I've ever known. It was a real struggle to get the records out. I have now transferred into polylined sleeves. They should really come with them for the prices we have to pay these days.

In terms of sound, so far I've only heard the first side. No problems but not blown away. I sold my promo copy as I hated the the brown paper bag cover. No difference in sound from that to this but I didn't expect any.

I gave the whole album a proper listen and really enjoyed it. It is definitely far more dynamic than my CD.

Side 4 In Particular sounded great, as did Dolphin, 319 and Billy Jack Bitch.

yeah that's my real question: how does it compare to CD?

The 80s Prince CDs always get all the shade from the community, but those mid-to-late 90s CDs are consistently maybe the worst CDs of all time. TGE CD mastering with that digital NPG computer click is the stuff of nightmares.

Tempted to get me this set...if only for the fact that we haven't really gotten ANYTHING new in quite some time...and TGE is probably my favorite 90s album.

But from where I stand, it looks like yet another low effort release by the estate...I mean, compared to the handling of MJs estate, we're spoiled rotten...but should that really be the competition?

A guy on Twitter compared it to his original TGE vinyl and said the new release sounded worse.

All I know is the Gold Experience vinyl I got on RSD sounds great.

It can't sound worse than the original TGE vinyl I used to have. Even though it was a pristine-looking sealed copy, my turntable couldn't handle it and the needle jumped constantly. I had no such problems playing the RSD edition or any of my other records so the problem had to be specific to how that particular release was pressed. I ordered this rerelease too because I prefer how the songs are broken up on each side over the RSD edition.

Actually it sounds a bit better than the original 2 lp. That one just didn't sound good. It sounded like a bad cd transfer.

This one probably used the promo as a reference, which did sound betetr than the original as well!

I compared it to my original Promo and it sounded worse than that one. Not to mention the typos and mistakes on that no-quality-controlled RSD release. This is like with that Versace Experience RSD tape which sounds worse than my decades old original.

Would back up what others have said about the inner sleeve static, it was comically hard to get the discs out... needless to say, I've transferred them to anti-static sleeves now.

A bare-bones reissue that feels like a missed opportunity for some better-quality packaging to help elevate it in some way above the original retail pressing. Would only really recommend it to those who already have the RSD reissue if they're desperate to own a vinyl copy with the retail-version artwork for completist purposes...
