I definitnely hear a "p", so I'd rule out "bond".

I used to think he was singing "the pocket is tighter", as in the drumming, but I doubt that's it.

I aways thought it was Bond....of the 3 above Bond is the only one that makes any real sense

Word...there are some very strange people commenting at this site...its almost as if some of them are trying to rewrite an alternate and sometimes whitewashed history for Prince, since he passed...this one can be partially blamed on the lyrics sites , which are notoriously wrong, especially when it comes to lyrics by black/brown artists, since our speech patterns, dialects, and phrasing can be nuanced...but still, it should be clear to those with good common sense, good ears, and good speakers, that he's saying "serious"...its so funny and so sad at the same time...bless their hearts

these we on eBay at the time of the auction years ago and most lyrics sites updated the then known lyrics with the ones in these pages. I probably still have them somewhere on my HDD as do most people here I suppose.
There is a non-public place on the net where all these pages have been collected for people to find and check tho.
