My Dream N.E.W.S Super Deluxe Set.

Total remaster of North, East, South, and West.

As well as the songs from the era in the Vault:

Northeast, Southeast, Northwest, and Northwest.

Well, i like that album very much.

Often on my playist.

For me this is Madhouse's 3rd album

It's in my playlists as Madhouse/Leeds.

I will never ever get tired of Eric's saxaphone playing.

He is so underrated imho.

Last year I ordered the ''LP Music'' album by Leeds & Peterson.

A serious recommendation for those lwho like eric Leeds' palying.

Prince always was good in instrumental music imho (except for 'Kamasutra'). wink

The recording of N.E.W.S. probably have longer versions,

although they recorded the album in one day.

Eric Leeds is a good talker and has a fantastic memory concerning his work he did with Prince.

He always kept all dates and notes about his recordedings for Prince in his notebooks.
(Maybe) someone once should ask him about these recordings...

I love NEWS. I would love a vinyl release of the regular album, and yes, I'll take any extras from the era too....

It's a thoroughly enjoyable experience for me.

Bring it on.

From my point of view....an SDE project of N.E.W.S is in the very down line of my SDE list wishes !!

I'll have to give this another listen, because what I remember from the first dozen or so listens is that it's not a strong album. I have not listened to it in easily 10 years, and haven't missed it.

An SDE of N.E.W.S. would be truly for the die-hards/completionists.

I love NEWS. East is the more experimental track Prince ever did. But I don't think it needs a SDE.

More a "Madhouse SDE" with the two "24" album and The Flesh session too.

I agree. A Madhouse box with remasters and the unreleased versions would get my money.

N.E.W.S is a bit too lounge for my liking. I don't dislike it though. Pretty sure a deluxe treatment of it will never happen in my lifetime, if ever.

- I didnt know there were these ones in the Vault. Now I am curious.

.

I love N.E.W.S, but I acknowledge that this one and Xpectation aren´t amazing instrumental albums. Madhouse was a lot more interesting.

I have always personally thought of Eric Leeds Times Squared as the lost 3rd Madhouse album, a little sad Prince never came back to the Madhouse project. Thanks to this comment I now know about another Eric Leeds project I was unaware of and just ordered a copy of LP Music.

Maybe someday, when everyone is driving flying cars and having to avoid the pigs flying next to them, there will be a Musicology SDE that will include NEWS as an instrumental disk.

There's not such songs in the Vault. It was a joke.

Not only do I love N.E.W.S., but it also makes people who are into modern pop music go away immediately. I used to play it at work all the time for just this reason. razz

N.E.W.S. is a phone-it-in project. Prince directed the band to play 4 vamps for the appropriate times. He then went back and attempted to make stuff up to fit over the top. These were not compositions at the start. This is a perfectly valid way to work, but it doesn't always yield pleasing results. IN the case of N.E.W.S. it gave us perfectly bland background music. Prince was not a jazz musician any more than he is a heavy metal musician. I'm glad you like N.E.W.S. and that it works for whatever you use it for. It's incredibly boring to musicians and sounds like something the Waether Channel would've played behind the 7 day forecast back in the day. Smooth "jazz" is lazy.

And I'm happy that you think its incredibly boring to musicians, and that it sounds like something some weather channel would've played aas background Scheiße, like a sort of lazy smooth jazz.

But i have to agree, to me this isn't ''jazz'', but rather ''Princetrumental''.

(yeah, i like that word. smile copyright!)

Prince fucked-up a lot of his own music, and gladly some of us (like me) like it.

I take N.E.W.S. anytime over 'Diamonds & Pearls' or '1999 The New master' or 'Lotusflower' or even ' SymbolSmallerBlue.png'.

wink

Shame, the nicedesgined fold out N.E.W.S. CD version is unique.

''One 'NITE' Alone...'' has the most shittiest cover art, but is a brilliant album imho.
