Films and actors who inspired Prince

I recently discovered the "scantily clad" woman on the ATWIAD cover is Clara Bow from the movie Hoopla. Once you see the original, it's undeniable. I think I've heard Jill Jones say it's meant to depict her, and while I don't doubt that, if it is, it's meant to depict her posing like Clara Bow in Hoopla.

What other film and actor references has Prince used? I can think of a couple, the Jane Fonda movie Barbarella, and Caligula as an inspiration for Gett Off.

Any others?

Discussed, for example, by Housequake on Twitter:

with Prince instructing Doug Henders, who was credited with the album artwork to include "A laughing woman dressed in black who resembled Clara Bow. This woman should be hysterically laughing" quite possibly cross-referencing her mention in 'Condition of the Heart'.

Other examples include:

Dialogue from 'The Godfather' was sampled on the second Madhouse album, 16 (on Eleven, Thirteen and Sixteen).

Bela Lugosi is referenced in a scene and the accompanying title of the instrumental music in Under The Cherry Moon (https://princevault.com/i..._Moon_cues)

'All The Midnights In The World' references a scene from 'It's A Wonderful Life'.

Frank (Sinatra) and Ava (Gardner) are mentioned in 'Lolita'.

The lyrics in 'Here Eye Come' refer to '9 1/2 Weeks'.

'The Green Mile' is given a passing mention in '2045 Radical Man'

ALT+PLS+RTN: Pure as a pane of ice. It's a gift.

Love that list. I also like that the colorful mountains in the background of ATWIAD is a naked woman, anatomically correct right down to the nipple!

While not exactly profound, he calls himself "The Purple Yoda".

Batman goes without saying. Or it did, till I said it.

IIRC the Prince: Alter Ego comic book. Originally planned to depict him as an Indiana Jones type character, but Prince felt he was more of a James Bond.

It's well documented that he often had Finding Nemo playing on a big screen at PP for some reason.

Mr Goodnight mentions Chocolat.

He was a big fan of Salma Hayek.

The Good Life has the lyric "La Dolce Vita" was the knob that turned me on Marcello Mastroianni Italian Mac comin' on strong".

And with this I'm surprised Marilyn Monroe hasn't been mentioned already.
