ESTATE LONDELL - WISH LIST for Diamonds and Pearls SDE

I am hoping someone in charge still reads from this site. If so, here is the wishlist -

Original Album Remaster

This is critical. I know some say the album already sounded good but, no...not compared to the greatest sounding albums like those by Steely Dan, Dire Straits, Pink Floyd etc. There is so much detail in his music...so many unique brush strokes, a proper remaster will allow us (those that truly care) to hear it all...at least, more.

I believe there should be a focus on Live material. Taking nothing away from his old bands, this band was TREMENDOUS. He showed them off constantly. Some suggestions -

1. Live at BBC - this set was 100mph and the quickest showcase of how good the band was. I don't know if the tapes can be found or if they can boost the horns, but it would be super to include.

2. Of course, a BLu Ray edited by DUane TUdahl. The shots he got on the W2A blu ray were the best we've ever seen of Prince....the laughing/joy....the shots of his hands when he played....the editing made that the best concert of his I've ever seen. I can only imagine what Duane would do with the footage Prince surely has of the D&P tour..... Chris James must also do the ATMOS mix....damn good. Please, release this on 2 channel audio cd too.

3. Open Book, With THis Tear, Get Blue, Player, Insatiable long/more piano, all the I'll Do Anything tracks remaining....Make Believe, Be My Mirror, the Nona Gaye material...Snow Man, 1000 Hugs and Kisses....

4. Please also consider Madhouse 24....it never saw light but we know it to be possibly stronger tan 8 and 16....

Take my money, I don't need it..... smile

No, he doesn't mean Arsenio.

Though quite why JoeyCococo thinks a show from 1993 would belong on a D&P set is anyones guess.

Formerly TheDigitalGardener etc.

Yeah that's the only BBC one I could think of, this was around the time of the hit's & b-sides release, I was in London at the time but did'nt manage to get in to that show, but went on the evening to see his final Act II show, where Prince died after the "Sacrifice of Victor" and was carried of stage by the game boyz, then a huge symbol lit up with fireworks on the stage

ah..good point...it's the same band and they were on display often...sure, we could pick the 1991 Arsenio show performance ...BBC was incredible.

As previously made available by the BBC here: https://www.bbc.co.uk/pro...s/p03rzt01 (at least where regions allow), but - as above - it was at the tail end of Act II - delivered with an eye on showcasing hits, with the first single from The Hits compilation already released - and the album to be released the following week.

pretty sure this set is all finalised already, if not actually pressed up and ready to ship out even.

also, these SDEs are never gonna be 100% definitive, lets face it.

part of that is human fallibility. another part is that the vault is so huge, theres no way everyone will agree on what should be in it. but the last part is just, milking the fans. you leave a little out, and it means there is a chance to make more money later.

My only dream about D&P SDE is that you open the box and there is the Parade SDE inside.

Facts!

I find most of the 1990s albums underwhelming, aside from Newpower Soul.

Honestly, Newpower Soul is a great album!

It's got a large number of fantastic songs.

Come On, The One, Wasted Kisses... All actual classics.

Mad Sex and Freaks On This Side are also great.

I'd rather listen to I Like Funky Music than Live 4 Love, that's for sure. lol

wouldn't it be great to get

1. that Arsenio 1991 set on Soundboard as part of the D&P release?

2. that same set cleaned up on Blu Ray?

As I said before, there is just so much live stuff that they could focus on....so many amazing performances...

.

I love everything Prince has done, it just changes the % of the love.

Parade is a great %, D&P less.

TBH I have interest only in all the unreleased music from The Vault.

No clue. I know when they first posted it I though it sounded like sometime 2000s or 2010s, but I don't see why they'd keep teasing a non D&P/Symbol track. The short section of lyrics sort of gives me Sacrifice of Victor vibes in content.

My cousin has a theory about why Prince's music is so divisive to his fans and why that is, for the most part, unique to his fanbase. It's something along the lines of Prince's music itself was always very diverse. He could go from almost heavy metal style guitar rock to funk and then to smooth soul or jazz or RnB or whatever. So some of his fans were initially drawn in mainly because they like, for example, his funk songs. But they may dislike his guitar stuff. So basically, because his music was so diverse, he ended up with a really diverse and somewhat unique fanbase. I'm not sure if I've explained it properly but it made sense to me when she told me.

That was my first thought.

Now the clip is a bit longer it does sound like it could be later than D&P/Symbol era.

The Max sample sounds out of place now. I hope that was put in originally by P and someone hasn't been messing round and put it in recently

Hard to say with such a tiny snippet. I definetely don't see it sound-wise from 1991, but the NPG got tighter by 1992 and it could easily be from that time (?). We will see... I hope!
