Hopefully there’ll be a compromise, or the estate might just accept it. I doubt it would change most fans opinions… and the general public won’t really care.

What I don't get is this: if the estate really is holding back the document because they're afraid it will show him in an honest light and ruin his reputation (which I really don't think it will), then what exactly is their game plan for securing his legacy and bolstering his reputation? Because if they can't release his music to the people most interested in hearing, what the hell is the point of doing anything?

Bingo, couldn't agree more . Just release it and let the fan base makeup their mind, stop trying to control the narrative

Everyone knows about Prince Ana and Mayte at this point, even if the Netflix doc discusses them in passing, I doubt it will change the public opinion on Prince, as long as it's not the MAIN focus.

We know because we're Prince fanatics.

Average person out there doesn't even know much beyond "Purple Rain" and his puffy Mozart shirt. Netflix has a very general audience that average person demographic will absolutely put on a Prince doc with no deeper knowledge of Prince. It's binge stream watch culture, most people don't know jack about the stuff they end watching hours of content on. People stay feenin' for streaming content on a daily, almost hourly basis.

You think all the people who watched the Dahmer Netflix series knew more than maybe a sentence of facts on him before they binged the series?

Said that since the day it was announced. It was a lame idea, let's be honest. Maybe a decent idea for an independent entity, but no chance Netflix was gonna do this proper.
