2 of my 3 faves (with PR). Still brilliant and aging incredibly well.

They have to kill me if I was forced to make a choice.

About, 'The Marx Brothers Project'... just found that out today. Nice to know this little story.

How would the album be like without Clare Fischer's strings?

And how would it be with all the left off Clare Fischer orchestration?

Damn that would be a nice SDE already.

'Parade' play list here on spin right now, it opens with the beautiful 'An Honest Man', piano version from the movie...

And gosh what a terrific song 'Anotherloverholenyohead' is,

plus how groovy and fun 'Girl & Boys' is, with that deep bariton sax by Eric.

And what a good thing he released '♥ Or $' !!! Such a great gem, it's also in my playlist,

and it replaces 'Kiss'.

'Kiss (extended version)' + 'Alexa de Paris' are the last two songs.

-

....Just....WTF.... how could they NOT make a Super Deluxe out of this fantastic album ?!

Just shows you how dead this place is. Two landmark 80s albums and not a peep!

Parade is in dire need of a remaster for digital. It sounds awful when it comes up on a playlist... not to mention that Spotify's version of Kiss is the single version, so it doesn't even flow into Anotherloverholenyohead.

It's crazy to think this album was pretty much in the can while they were still touring Purple Rain!!! The leaps musically are just bonkers from the Purple Rain era.

Prince must've not liked this album much though, he didn't really re-visit it much live. The b-sides were left off of "The Hits/B-Sides".

I came across a site called The Film Stage, which is recommending the Sign movie. It's a real film critic site, serious. They compare it to An American in Paris.

Why start a thread complaining that others have not started it for you or reply after there has been a "peep" on the topic that there has not been a "peep". If you think the place should be discussing something, just seek to discuss it.

Anyway, Two albums released only a year apart but so different. The first is the end of an era as the last of the Revolution albums and the second of the "artistic" albums following 1999/PR. The latter, a new start with a broadening of the sound and increasing maturity

Replacing Kiss with Love or $ then putting the extended version on the end is a great idea. I might give that a try.

I purchased the digital download of Parade from Apple and it had the same problem. I ripped the album version from the CD and subtituted it.

It's super annoying. It's not Apple or Spotify's fault. They just play/sell what's given to them by the record company (i.e. the content provider). So the Estate or WB is at fault here. Pure carelessness.

It's insteresting you say that about Parade sounding awful, because it's well regarded by audiophile types.

For the first time since the SDE came out, I actually made a point of sitting still for the hour-plus it takes to listen to SOTT from beginning to end. It's my favorite Prince album. And it brings back a lot of memories, both fond and bittersweet. Thank goodness we got the SDE before The Estate's plans collapsed.
