I know there are shockadelica rehearsals but I've never seen any videos of him actually performing it live.

Always hoped for "Paisley Park".

Then, later, at the 'Celebration', he did it and made me cry tears of joy!

I can't think of any other song that would have been a better one-off biggrin

(not a one-off, it was done in 86, but i'm still discovering lol )

You may wanna check Princevault. It was performed quite a few times. But I do agree that it should've been more often.

Sorry, it's the Hodgkin's talking.

GoodLove. I don't believe there was ever a full performance, just lyrics quoted in some other song.

Used to be "She's Always In My Hair" until I saw him perform it.

Would've liked to see "Bump Squad" performed live...

The alt. version he did at the studio 54 aftershow in 2000 was sublime .

Off the top of my head, Way Back Home

I love AoA - Way Back Home was a quick favorite and the pure emotional energy would have been beautiful to witness on the P&M tour. Maybe it would have been too much for him to do live at the time 😔

Somewhere along the way in the 90s, I missed the whole Exodus album. By the end of the 90s, I had started to hear the term "Return of the Bump Squad," and knew about "Get Wild." But it wasn't until the beginning of the 2000s that I finally found and listened to it (probably via Napster).

But even that was after the NPGMC released version (with "Vicki Waiting," and "We March"). So when I heard the album version it was sort of a let down because that live cut was so fucking lit.

I've since grown to love Exodus. Just listened to it today actually, sans the segues. He played so much of that really rich, funky, well-produced music in the 90s (via Gold, Come, etc). "Bump Squad" should've been on that list of live cuts and rehearsals as much as "Get Wild," "Now," or anything else.

Sorry, it's the Hodgkin's talking.

he performed it many, many times. first times in 83 and 84 and then he didn't play it live
for a very long time until he started to play it again in the 2000s. from 2010 onward I think
he performed it live every single year, last time during the Piano & A Microphone shows.

You're right.

He played it later in:

June 7 1984, First Avenue

December 28 1984 in St. Paul

December 31 1984 in Dallas

I don't have info in the 2000's and forward shows

It was a staple of the 3rd Eye Girl shows. Fantastic clips online.

In 2013, he released a live (rehearsal) version on 3rdEyeTunes. Here's the cover art:

EDIT: I don't why I can't get the image to show. I click on the tree/image button and insert a tinypic URL, but nothing....

Yes: https://www.princevault.c...er_2002-am

but also earlier at the NPGMC Soundcheck preceding the 5 October concert: https://www.princevault.c...tober_2002 with Prince on drums

and subsequently in an aftershow in Melbourne, 2012 https://www.princevault.c...ay_2012-am

For a looong time it was "I´m yours", but he played it with Michael B and Sonny T in 2009. Too bad the sound quality I have is not so good.
