When's the last time you saw anyone else buying Prince music?

I was in a 2nd hand music store at lunch - saw someone buy the Prince album and the Scandalous Sex Suite, both on CD. First time in a long time I've seen anyone else buy Prince. It was a nice moment...

Prince rave party 2002. Lots of people fighting to buy the stock that was there. Promo's, rare CD singels from 80s and early 90s. Records, related artists. Lots of buying happening. It was real cool.

It's kind of weird. I hardly ever see anyone picking up Prince cds in my most frequented music stores. However, I do visit several stores on a weekly basis and his cds do disappear off of the shelves. Tower and CD Source in Dallas can't seem to keep Crystal Ball, The Rainbow Children or Rave on the shelves. Those album always are out. OR, Ill go in one day and it is there and the next week, its gone. Also, CD Source can't seem to keep ONA Live on the shelf either. They have ordered several sets.

Are you suggesting people are ashamed to be seen buying a Prince CD?

When I bought Emancipation the day it was released. The woman behind me in line was buying it too & it kind of surprised me because she looked a little...er...redneck-y. I would have Xpected a Lynyrd Skynyrd CD to be in her hand so I guess looks can sometimes deceive!

I went over to the Prince section in HMV in my town & there was someone over there buying the Rainbow Children. Gave him an approving nod as I left the shop lol

This isn't exactly the same, but one day I was in Best Buy and I was wearing a "Rainbow Children" t-shirt (the one with the album painting on the front, and a store clerk walked up to me, looked at my shirt, started snapping his fingers and singing the opening line "Just like the sun..."

I just laughed and said "yeah, you know!" smile

Don't get out much do you? The last time I was in Best Buy there were several copies of One Night Alone. I returned a week later and there was only one copy. So you never know people may be still buying his music.

I get out plenty. Thats just the last time I saw anybody else buying his music. I wasn't implying no one buys his music anymore.

I didn't actually see anybody. But I get all my Prince goods via a mailing company who makes most of its revenue selling Prince related stuff. And somebody beat me to their very last CD copy of 'Wonderboy'.

If I had "seen" him I would have ripped his head off.

and the I Know You Were statement was me saying that I know that you never meant that nobody buys Prince music since 1984 and that Laura misunderstood you.

This may seem a little strange, but I see people buying Prince cds all the time, or at least, I see them looking in to them.

Especially when I go tho FNAC-Antwerp; there is always someone snooping around in MY spot! lol

i went to the FNAC Nice a couple of weeks actually:
they only had 3 copies of "rainbow children" out and they looked kinda dusty.
it made me frown for a couple of hours..

This week I saw a new copy of the New Power Generation single at Best Buy. It has to be just ordered because I always check the Prince section even though I have everything.

When the Wiz first started going out of business, the Prince CDs were one of the first gone.
