The Best Rap Wins Did anyone win the rap contest on the NPG radio show? The Best Rap Wins was a contest songs with vocals by Prince (as Me, Myself, & I) and Robin Power whom invite the listener to rap over the instrumental bit of the song and to "send your rap to KMOJ and we'll send you a prize right away. Forreal, straight-up the best rap wins" anyone know any winners? I assume the winning submissions were gonna be aired on the second instalation before it got canceled, like Contest Song on the NPGMC. It wasn't the DeLaSoul song, but rather the drum track from, i want to say, "Elephants & Flowers"??? I also remember him rephrasing ""take this beat, i don't mind..." and laughing. "Whatever skin we're in

They do sample DeLaSoul for just a moment, before Prince interrupts the song and tells the other hosts "not to sample your elders unless you pay 'em, if you need a sample beat, take this one, I don't mind. I got plenty others and they're so fine" but I'm mainly focused on the rap that happens after this intro, and seeing if anyone ever actually won the competition. Screaming. Panting. Making Noise. |
