That test has some really lame questions.

I only got two wrong. The one about which genre he's best known for (the answer is subjective and I disagreed). And the one about where he went to school. Middle Tennessee State University?!?! Really?!?!?

I should have gotten a third wrong -- the one about his voice -- but I got lucky and guessed right.

"When did Prince end?"

Who wrote this, a fucking 10 year old?

I got 15 out of 20. Not bad considering I thought I would have gotten maybe 10.

But some of those questions are really stupid. "When did Prince end" and "In what year was Prince established". Imagine actually talking like that. "Hi, my name is Hannah and I was established on 27th August 1991. Hopefully I won't end for a long time"

I got 18/20. There were quite a few repeat questions about when he died and where he lived.

20 but it could have been 16. I agree, some of answers were lucky, some of the answers were subjective like genre. I did not fall for the trick with repeated questions with the same answer followed one with a slightly different answer.

It's almost as if they view Prince as a thing and not a person.

Quizzes like this are aimed at those who are easily distracted by ads and don't have an ad blocker and other security setting. It is the same as watching a TV quiz show - paid for by the ads except I saw no ads.

If you ignore the ads, the people providing the quiz platform still get paid but the people doing the quiz don't get swayed. The small amount of data that can be collected from no other interaction than selecting items from muliple choice and not signing up to the site hardly makes a one-off user a lemming - even with open security settings. The lemmings are the businesses paying the site in the hopes someone notices the ignored ads or that pay Google for the data in the hopes it will improve their business.

And what makes you think this is by Microsoft? They use Web beacons, Google analytics, and Google recaptcha. The site works is not aimed at just one software company because it works fine on MacOS iPhone and Android.

Most important thing: Don’t do this quiz it’s bullshit!

Second, the only interesting thiNG is that (I assume) it is compiled automatically from a data source, something like wikipedia. This explains the repeated (rephrased) questions, the fact that the extra info attached to some answers gives the answers to future questions, and the weird phrasing (like Prince ‘ending’).

A sense of time is all fucked up (sometime Prince is in the past, sometimes in the present), leading to the most aggregious issue of all ‘How many children does Prince have?.

In short, offensive.

You obviously never got a call from a "microsoft technician" trying to get you to log on to their "website" to check for a "serious virus".

According to this quiz, Price studied at Middle Tennessee State University. Is that true? I'd never heard. How or why would be be in Tennessee?

No - I clicked this one as a guess/test and was surprised that it accepted it as "correct".

I have never got a call from a real Microsoft technician seeking to get me to log on to their scam site, nor any person really working for a variety of different computer or telecommunications companies. These are scams by people who are NOT from those organisations - you know this.

However, this has nothing to do with your post accusing people that tried this quiz as being "goofy ass Microsoft lemmings". There is no indication that the quiz site is a scam or associated with Microsoft. There is no more risk from this quiz than there is from googling.

I tried this quiz like two nights ago. By question 6 or 7 I was so disgusted at how banal and asinine this piss-poor excuse for a quiz is that I not only closed the quiz, I immediately closed the org in a vain attempt to somehow make up the time wasted.

Possibly the worst thread in org history, and easily the worst quiz in internet history.

Wow, I got 18 out of 20. I'm very proud of myself. I guess I know Prince pretty well!

.

The ones I got wrong were the BRIT Awards and the song he refused to make a video for. That last one is kind of trick question, but whatever.

.

I guessed at the online poll winner question, and got it right.

It is a much better quiz than the original.

Multiple choice allows for guessing. I remember a quiz in my German class that was so hard the person who got the highest mark and beat the rest of us was the person who just guessed all the answers - He still failed but he beat the statistics and us.

I am curious as to why you think the last question was a trick question. As some quizzes reorder the questions, was your question 20 about Manic Monday?

Gave up on it. The question about his voice type doesn't even have the actual answer as an option.
He was a baritone. Those lower notes of his are really quite rich.
