what is this song (celebration promo The Max scream sample 2023)

circa several weeks ago: celebration announced with funky jam teaser in twitter announcement vid

circa a few days ago?: this same song is used in promo for the art contest whatever don't care

circa yesterday from McMillan in response to someone asking about the song: "Ya’ll will know soon…"

in conjunction with the rumor that Diamonds and Pearls may still be on for July 2023, what do we think this song is and is this anything worthwhile? Does this sounds early 90s era?

Sounds later than that to me. TRC would have Renato's scifi sounds all over it. I feel like 90s NPG would have a thumpier bass by Sonny, but it does recall When The Lights Go Down which doesn't really sound like a 1991-1992 NPG song, either.

It's the Josh Welton remix of The Max.

(For anyone who can't tell, I'm being facetious.)

Let me re-agree and reasses - it sounds like bullshit. LOL

also didn't he bring The Max back into the sets around this time. did he have this scream sample ready to trigger at any of those shows? could narrow down the year here.

He brought it back in 2013 with 3EG but I'm sure the sample wasn't used.

.

As far as I recall it was only used when played live around Act I and possibly some segues around then like on the 3 Chains O' Gold film

It simply sounds like a song from 2010-16 mixed with a "sample" of the beginning of "The Max".

.

What I mean is: what we hear might have been produced in 2022-23, by some random trainee or something, not by Prince at the time.

This is said to be from a rehearsal (don't know from when because I'm not that deep in those circles) and the full thing was shared somewhere else.

Why his supposed release of D&P SDE is taking so much time...the project was highly reumoured to be finalized since fall 2021 by The Estate under Comerica control/WB !!

confused

My prediction: Diamonds and Pearls deluxe will be announced in April with a July release date and it will be exhaustive and even fuller than the 1999 and SOTT SDE's which themselves were shadows of what they could have been.

Surely the estate wouldn't put out a hodge-podge Frankenstein mix

I don't expect any new release soon.

Possibly not even this year.

Why?

New team, new rules, and most important god's eye by holy Sharon and other impotent family members on expecting projects.

Possibly a new PR-SDE next year for it's 40th B-day, unfortunately again i'm afraid...

A Re-Remaster by the direction staff of jehova, by the supervision of the spirit of Prince from jehova's seperate heaven next to the other heavens in hell.

And this 'Seven' thing probably will be a Celebration thing, with maybe some rehearsal shown or streamed.

Bash me if you like, i'm in a bad mood today. Be careful I bite. wink

Hope i'm dead wrong though.

But my believes in the new team are below zero.

Why?

They can NOT communicate AT ALL.

How smart is it for them to NOT communicate in any way so far?

They are no music business people and certianly not musicians or business people at all.

Actually, this is all Prince's stupid fault.

"The whole problem with the world is that fools and fanatics are always so certain of themselves. And wiser people so full of doubts" (Bertrand Russell 1872-1972)

Mr Spicer has engaged a bit with fans on twitter lately and saw a reply from Londell the other day too (to what song on the celebration announcement, he said, “Ya’ll will know soon… 💜🔥”) - hints at possibly more involvement than the previous estate management, but early days.
There may or may not be something coming!

To me, It almost sounds like a snippet of a live jazzy (rehearsal?) jam from the late 2015 lineup of Prince, Kirk Johnson, MonoNeon, Donna Grantis, and Ida Nielsen? The "dig me now" phrase and the scream from "The Max" seem like looped samples added on top of the performance? I could be *way* off, though. lol
