I'm still kinda miffed that a full "Turn Me Loose" never leaked, like "Rich Friends" did,
without the radio banter and just the full song with beginning and end.

It's such a nice tune, I'd love to add it to my playlists.

What about Disco Jellyfish as an instrumental varaint of Chocolate Box?

It streamed on lotusflow3r.com 31 Jan 2009 but as far as I am aware had no subsequent play or release.

And the instrumental of "there will never be another like me" and the demo of "chocolate box"

Agreed - There is the demo versions of Wall of Berlin, but the other Indie 103 / MPLSound streams on the 19 Dec 2008 were (I believe) the album or single (Crimson & Clover) releases.

You can always edit the radio DJ at the beginning

The Wall of Berlin demo has less guitar affects eg at the beginning before any voices.

Crimson & clover minor differences eg Prince says right at the beginning of the album version and not in one played at Indie 103

For the live section, there's NPG in this Funk House / All the Critics Love U from 2004.

I remember that I dug these 3 up a while back because I was convinced they were different
to the versions that were ultimately released. But now I'm not so sure anymore. The station
that played the songs also added some effects and sounds and that makes it seem like the
tracks are somehow diffferent at the start and end? Also I think they might have come from
a test pressing or a promo-sort-of-in-house-EP and were sequenced differently. So that may
also be why there are differences at the beginning and end -which would mean that these
are indeed slightly alternate versions. However, after listening multiple times and mulling it
over for a day or two, I deleted those files from my folders since I didn't think they were in
fact different. But now you're making me doubt again lol

Well of course, you can always cut those endings and beginnings off but I'd just rather
have the entire song and enjoy it that way smile

The copy of Turn Me Loose I have doesn't have a DJ talking over the begining or end. I must have an edited version??? Mine is 3:18 long.

Now that I listen to it closely, it does sound like there may have been something cut off at the beginning. My track starts off with a brief synth noise very low in the mix, a kick drum beat, Prince saying, "Uh!", a drum roll, and that at the 3 second mark, Prince singing "You don't really know me...". The synth that starts it sounds like it might be in mid-note, which is why I can imagine something being edited off.

However, if there is an edit at the end of my version, it's not as obvious. The music stops and Prince sings a capella: "You don't think you know me, you just think you do," and the song ends. To me, it sounds like a very natural ending. If there is more after it, I never would have guessed.

hmmm

mine is only 3:12 and it starts exactly on prince's 'you don't really know me' with a crash of drums,
sounding like we just fall into it a few seconds too late.

the ending is just the horn solo and vamping until it slowly quiets down a bit and the dj comes in
saying 'oh my goodness [...] prince, showing no signs of slowing down at all...'.
