uncollected, post-2000 officially released tracks

I've put together a list to make sure I have everything. Please let me know if I'm missing something. This list does not include:

  • posthumous releases
  • songs attributed to other artists: Madhouse - Asswhuppin' (Audio Show #6 excerpt, 2001), Mono Neon - Ruff Enuff (Tidal 2016), Maceo Parker - We Gon Make It Funky (NPGMC #10, 2001), or
  • tracks that were later included on a set, such as Chocolate Invasion, Slaughter House or HITNRUN.

I'm including the source (e.g. NPGMC, iTunes, 3EG website, etc.) -- feel free to correct those as well.

For the date, I'm using its availability as a download or physical release, whichever is earlier. Some of these were available as streams earlier, but I'm not using that date. I'm not overly concerned if I have the exact date right as long as the year is correct.

As mentioned above, this list does not include songs attributed to other artists. The instrumentals you have in mind (Octopus Heart, Menstrual Cycle, etc al) are attributed to 3rdEyeGirl and thus are not on this list. This list is only for songs attributed to Prince.

No problem. I'm not including those on this list, but I do want to be sure I'm aware of them. Here's what I have from 3RDEYEGIRL: Boomstratus, Hidden Colors, I Like It There, Live Out Loud, Moon Drop, Octopus Heart, and Third Eye Heart of the Octopus Menstral Cycle. Am I missing anything?

According to PrinceVault, that song was only streamed on 3rdEyeGirl's YouTube Channel. It was never available for download.

But this raises an interesting point. I should make another category for streamed/broadcast only... Give me a minute...

Steamed/Broadcast Only -- no download or physical release
****************************************************

These are only original songs. I'm not including variants or live performances -- so you won't see Love (Acoustic), Disco Jellyfish, Laydown Extended, Baltimore (original version), Come Together at Coachella, etc. Unless stated otherwise, these are audio streams (not video).

2008.09.24 - Turn Me Loose (KJLH internet radio)

2009.07.15 - In A Large Room With No Lights (Montreun Jazz Festival Website: montreuxjazz.com)

2010.01.21 - Purple and Gold (www.vikings.com)
2010.10.14 - Rich Friends (radio station 103.5 KTU's website: KTU.com)

2013.01.20 - Chapter & Verse (3rdEyeGirl YouTube)
2013.06.27 - Midnight Blues (3rdEYE TV #6)
2013.07.03 - Brown Skin (3rdEYE TV #11)

2015.09.07 - Indifference (Tidal - VIDEO ONLY - AUDIO RIPPED)

EDIT: This list is very far from comprehensive. Prince streamed tons of snippets form songs he was working on, rehearsals, live performances, etc. I don't have the time or desire to capture all of those. The only thing I want to be sure to capture in the steamed section are unique songs, such as Turn Me Loose and Rich Friends. If I missed any unique streamed songs, please let me know and I'll add them. But I'm not going to worry about everything he streamed.

It's from the sample set but he jams on it for a bit. It's amazing and I listen to it often music

Thanks. I am aware of Databank's website and agree it's amazing. It had been a while since I'd last checked it out, but your post prompted me to take another look. It looks like he's updated both the content and layout since I'd last been there. It's even more amazing!

His lists include a lot of stuff that I'm not counting, such as associated artists output, snippets that aren't even a minute long, and streamed content. I'm trying to boil it down a bit more. Had Prince lived and released a Crystal Ball 2 or HNR Phase 3, what universe of songs would he have considered including? I realize it's a subjective question and open to debate.

I have 2009's "In A Large Room..." listed above in the addendum for streamed-only songs. See post #9. My original list was only for songs with official releases in physical format or digital dow-loads. That's why I didn't include streamed songs until a later post. (Based on that criteria, I suppose you could quibble with my inclusion songs excerpted from NGP Ahdio Shows.)

Also, I'm only looking for uncollected songs, by which I mean songs that did not appear on the Chocolate Invasion, Slaughter House or HNR.

Finally, I'm looking only for songs where Prince is attributed as the artists, which excludes associated artists and other songs he produced but wasn't the primary vocalist.

Why? Because it's my list. I need a subjective cutoff. If I try to include literally everything, then I'd just be recreating Databank's website. That would be a lot of work for little payoff. I'm basically trying to mop up any studio-recordings (non-live) songs Prince released in the 2000s that aren't on an ablum.

[EDIT to remove revised list. It made this message too long. I'll repost it below.]

I primarily want to indentify unique songs -- not variants, not live versions. That's why I seperated those two categories into their own lists back in my original post. I wasn't overly interested in them, but included them for the sake of completeness. Now I regret it because it's confused my purpose. With that in mind, let me start over:

UNIQUE, UNCOLLECTED SONGS (RELEASED + STREAMED) POST 2000:

2000.07.14 - Cybersingle (NPGOnlineLtd.com)

Not to derail my own thread by going off-topic, but I was just thinking about uncollected songs from the 1980s. There are only two I can think of: Alexa De Paris and Love or $. All the other non-album tracks were collected in The Hits/B-Sides, or in the case of Good Love, the official Crystal Ball release. Is that right, or am I missing something?

For the purposes of indentifying unique songs, I'm not interested in variants (edits, remixes, extended versions, etc.). But with that said, I'd be tempted to include I Wish U Heaven Parts 2 & 3 in a list of uncollected '80s songs. They're so different from the original that they could qualify as being their own unique compositions. I'm not sure I can say that about any other '80s remixes. (There are a some '90s remixes that might fit this category of remixes that evolved to the point of being new songs. PrinceVault makes judgements on those to decide which are sufficiently different to qualify for their own entry, but I'm not sure I always agree with their determinations.)

"Sex", perhaps, is another contender for this short list?

What about Disco Jellyfish as an instrumental varaint of Chocolate Box?

It streamed on lotusflow3r.com 31 Jan 2009 but as far as I am aware had no subsequent play or release.

Good call. I'd forgetting about that one.
