I absolutely agree 1000000 %

I also agree lol that segue is hilarious, lol

It's like the pinnacle of "Prince as a comedian" comedy. This and The Time's "Chili Sauce". Put it on after checking out this thread and that it aged like fine wine. Tres magnifique.

and a few other funny ones i can't name right now... help me wink

And let's make a funny Prince album/playlist.

Great question because Tidal has NPS, Exodus, Girl 6 and 1-800-NEWFUNK

I think they're only available on Tidal, Prince had a deal with them when he was still with us and at that time, Tidal was the only streaming platform where you could find his albums.

It had everything! I remember joining Tidal for that exact reason. At the time they even had The Black Album. I eventually joined and made Spotify my main stream for music as I'm not a fan of Tidal's interface and it's easier to share music/playlists with friends.

NPS is a real mixed bag. Come On and The One are top notch, Until U're In My Arms Again is nice but very sad considering the subject, Wasted Kisses is interesting to say the least. The rest I can live without, especially the 'live' party tracks.

.

I love everything on Exodus. The title track and The Good Life would probably make my top 20 P. The segues like Mashed Potato Girl are funny but it's frustrating he could've replaced them with likes of Mad, Funky Design, Love..Thy Will Be Done

.

I love everything on Gold Nigga. Could listen to that live band sound all day. And Tony is my boy

Love those three songs!

Any fans of Hallucination Rain out there?

How about Mad Sex?

I would like Prince's vocals on Hallucination Rain. The song itself I dig, just not that hot on Sonny's lead vocals.

Love Mad Sex, it's corny Prince at his best lyrically speaking and the groove is FIRE. If that song doesn't make you wanna learn to play bass, nothing will.

ALL this! Thank you for celebrating these songs with me.

NOBODY comes close to Prince's campy corny combustible cool!

A lot of it is just fun music. Not trying to be anything else. Kind of like The Time. Come On is great (& gave us one of his coolest, wackiest performances on The Tonight Show; I think that's the one where he teaches Leno how to clap). & it doesn't get love here, but I've always dug Push It Up. A great concert opener/party starter.

Really appreciate you reminding about that Leno performance.

Just watched it and realized I never saw the second part with Prince rapping and having a party all over the stage...jumping on the keys, hanging out by clapping Jay, dancing around the band. It is so much fun to see the band bring these songs live.

I love Hallucination Rain. The extended version is brilliant.
.
The soundcheck version that leaked a couple of years ago is phenomenal to me. P on vocals and throwing in some Godfather quotes. Shame they didn’t play it in shows as it sounds so good

I really have to be in the mood for "Hallucination Rain." It's a great, trippy song, almost a precursor to "The War" and "Beautiful Strange." But with all the funk on Exodus, it sorta sticks out. But, it also fully belongs there. It's a balls to the wall track, just like many others on there.

I was late learning about Exodus in general back then, but I did have a single to "Get Wild" and "Hallucination Rain" was the b-side.

As far as "Mad Sex," it's just a song that has great potential but sounds like a really good demo, as does much of NewPowerSoul.

One of the best live versions is "Return of the Bump Squad" that was released on NPGMC. I kinda wish that whole show (October 22, 1995, Paisley Park) would leak. Because those three tracks from that show as just great. It made me rethink "Vicki Waiting."

"eye don’t really care so much what people say about me because it is a reflection of who they r."

Every time people ask about what live shows should be released, the first thing that comes to mind for me is the Miami bday show because it's around in excellent soundboard that could use a professional polish BUT..... that's where I first heard Return of the Bump Squad and it's so. Fucking. Good. I like any live version of it. It's totally a song that needs to be played live.

Funnily enough I had the same thing with Vicki Waiting after hearing this live version.
Even We March, which I’ve never been a lover of, sounds good live on this show.

I used to confuse Get Wild and The Good Life. I just listedn to them again. Not sure how I confused them. Get Wild is an okay song. The Good Life sounds like Bell Biv Devoe.

Yeah I think NPS and Goldnigga are way better than people say, and that Exodus is far over hyped when I think it really only has a couple good songs (Exodus Has Begun and Get Wild).

.

- Maybe, but it has THE NPG! Even the non-great songs are great because of that band. Such a funky album. I only think the segues are too much distracting. Love "Hallucination Rain" too. That electric violin solo is sooo cool. "New Power Soul" and "Big Fun" are such a joy to listen to.

Newpower Soul is among his worst work IMHO . . . you almost have to wonder if the Estate doesn't want it on Spotify for that reason?
