I'm gonna be the contrarian... This song doesn't do much for me. I don't actively dislike it. But I sure don't get excited about it.

Yeah, it has always been a favourite of mine too. It has that strange, dark and as you say, slightly “deranged” quality that I love in Prince’s more edgy and experimental stuff. I’ve always had the impression that it was quite a divisive track though – it has come up in discussions of Prince's worst songs, which is completely beyond me! It is a torpid and “uneventful” track in a way, but it's precisely this hypnotic, dreamlike quality that I like. I think it's brilliant.

I think it's pretty great in the way the sparse drum track just sort of drones on yet when you listen
to the drum and percussion as the main focus of your attention, it's absolutely hypnotic.

It almost sounds like he's slapping that drum with mouse of his hand. Well, someone is going to
correct me no doubt and tell me it's a drum machine but there's something very organic in
just that simple drum track to me.

And then there's vanity's vocals all over it. It's almost a duet in that way.

The song that was the B-side of "America"?...*yawn*...it sounds empty and unfinished...prince begging and yodeling and playing silly synth-lines that sound almost off-key... "All i have to do us think about you and i have an orgasm...*corny*..." "Im a good kisser, too...*eye-roll*.." I dont get the hype about this song, apparently neither did Prince.

I don't like the song either.

The lyrics are "interesting" and young . I'm going to assume that he wrote them when he was under 21, even though the song was released in 85.
