Yeah like 6 cd sde of dirty mind / controversy would be perfect.
I’m not a big fan of combining albums SDE. Just my biased opinion. I’d prefer each to stand alone.
Yes. It belittles the art to combine them in some 90s deep-discount two'fer. It's like those $5.99 Wal-Mart "Comedy Night" DVDs with the three phoned-in Dan Akyroyd movies from the 80s combined with like Happy Gilmore or Ace Ventura. |

I wasn't sure if there is enough material for each one to get it's own sde..... "

I think it would be criminal if Controversy doesn't get the full SDE treatment.
It may not be the best Prince album, but it is the most pivotal shift in his entire career and the one that cememented the MPLS sound.
The first linn drum. The first non-falsetto voice. The long form, less tracks approach. The chicken scratch guitar. The anthem/movement approach. The trenchcoat.
Sonically, Controversy is more like 1999 phase 1. Everything before it sounds like a different artist. . |

Same here, this album made me a lifelong fan.

The idealist & purist in me agrees, each album should have its own SDE.
But he had 39 studio albums. If each were to get its very own SDE release, at a rate of one per year, it would take 39 years to get through them. I'll be dead by then.
So while it's less than ideal, I'd certainly accept combined SDE sets. If that gets me all of his music remastered before I'm dead, it's a trade-off I'm willing to make.
What's that expression... Don't let the perfect be the enemy of the good.

Or they could do 4 SDE's a year, every 3 months.

That's good math!
As a bonus question, how old would you be after 39 SDE's?

That would be great too. Whichever way the Estate goes I'll acecpt, so long as they start putting out more music and stop with the fucking pajamas.

If they do 1 a year I'll be 85, if they do 4 a year they'll be done in just 10 years and than they can focus on weekly live video/audio releases and throw in a soundcheck or rehearsal every 3 days.

At the very least, there should be an SDE for every album from ‘For You’ to ‘Diamonds and Pearls’.And of course, they can improve on the ‘Purple Rain’ SDE and add a lot more to it. |
