New from Scifi: The Journey From Prince to O(+> - a prequel to Prince Vs. Warners - The Fans Lost The journey from Prince to
A prequel to the Prince Vs. Warner Brothers – The Fans Lost blog covering the 1993-1996 era of Prince changing his name to , the title of his 1992 album. In these preceding chapters, the album and all of Prince’s side-projects with other artists like Carmen Electra, The New Power Generation, George Clinton, Mavis Staples, MPLS and Rosie Gaines from 1991-1993 as well as Prince’s songs for the I’ll Do Anything movie are examined with the stories behind his music, his girlfriends and his dealings with his record company that led to the infamous feud – it’s all here!
I doubt Prince was ever as prolific and busy as in this era. I hope you'll have fun reading and exploring the blog because it's littered with photos and links to all the YouTube videos from the album era.
And of course, all kinds of comments, criticisms and corrections are welcome - both good and bad.
Here's the link: https://thejourneyfrompri...gspot.com/

Known Prince songs from the album era that remain unreleased include Gett Off’s Cousin, Boom Box, Letter 4 Miles, Do U Wanna Rock?, Rave Church Style, Check It Out, Baby Doll, the album segues, the original Prince versions of Allegiance, However Much U Want, Johnny, With This Tear, Shhh and Sunday Afternoon, as well as several unreleased remixes of album songs. That should suffice for a Deluxe Edition bonus CD of Vault tracks.

Thanks a lot for the great work U did again, Scifi!
There are two minor errors I noticed in chapter two: Backing vox on Power from above are by Mavis Staples + Jevetty Steele (to my ears and accordding to princevault ) The first time you mentioned Monie Love you spelled her Money Love
I really appreciate your work!

Backing vocals on "Power From Above" is not Mavis and Steele. Backing vocals are done by (Prince), Carmen and Patti LaBelle.
Princevault and your ears are wrong for once.

Princevault and your ears are wrong for once. And yet they've addressed your theory; It was long believed that Patti LaBelle sang on that track. Karen "K-Dean" Cover, one of the co-writers, has confirmed that Labelle was not involved in Power From Above. The background vocals are sung by Mavis Staples, Jevetta Steele and Prince.

Oh well. I asked Carmen directly so I don't think it's a "theory".
However, there's a small chance you could be right in case Prince changed the backing vocals later and never told Carmen.

I believe it, but sometimes Princevault IS wrong - like, they say the 1992 configurations of Rosie Gaines: Concrete Jungle are from 1993, yet they're obviously from 1992 and it says right there on iTunes: "(c) 1992." Maybe it's a typo on Princevault. FREE THE 29 MAY 1993 COME CONFIGURATION!

Apropos Princevault being wrong... Their entry for the Come EP here http://www.princevault.co...e:_Come_EP isn't quite correct. The track list they list is for a cassette containg "Misc. Come Mixes." Read everything about it - complete with picture thanks to Mace2theO - in the updated "'s Come singles" section in Chapter One about the Come album on the Prince Vs. WB - The Fans Lost blog right here: https://princevswarners.b...never.html with thanks to Neversin for the actual Come EP info.
Also new on the Prince Vs. WB-blog: Quotes from Michael Bland and Ricky Peterson from recent Truth In Rhythm interviews. Check the comments to Chapter four: All that glitters ain't Gold and Chapter five: Slave to the System for details.
And there's new quotes from Hans-Martin Buff from a recent Funkatopia interview in the Emancipation chapter. See the comments to that for details.
And there's newly added pictures on there, too. [Edited 1/12/23 8:09am] FREE THE 29 MAY 1993 COME CONFIGURATION!
