PARANOID MF's

I have just read the thread 'I'v Seen The Future and It Will B" - don't believe the hype... Prince is an artist, just let him be that, perhaps it would be wise to let the rest of it alone, and perhaps stop rumour-making!

Either you want to buy his art or you don't. Either you enjoy listening to his art or you don't.

This world is full ofintolerance, judgement and rumour... let's start accepting diversity and difference, and take what you enjoy from those who create the art that you enjoy.

Peace and Feathers.

actually, as written in the lyrics of his songs, prince himself is displaying more in the way of intolerance these days than most of us are.

Exactly.

And as if calling out the "paranoid MF's" is showing any willingness to celebrate diversities. Wack thread.

believe it or not, this sorta stuff does come with the territory of artist-dom, dahling. speculations, hearsay, criticism, all that...just one part of the package.

may be one less savory part of the package, no doubt, but it comes along with it. get your head outta the clouds 4 a minute or two.

XxAxX, i want to have your children. smile how is it that the faMs are blinded to this reality? buncha sheep. the anti-semitism in TRC still makes my stomach hurt.

and as for YOU, chasing...people are allowed to criticize any goddamn thing they please. if you don't like it, then you're certainly more than welcome to construct a (hopefully intelligent) argument to the contrary, but telling people to just stop commenting on this and that...that displays a sickeningly fascist train of thought that i would HOPE any prince fan OR faM would be vehemently against.

No confusion, no tears. No enemies, no fear. No sorrow, no pain. No ball, no chain.

I only feel that so much time is spent theorising on what P is up tp... he is an artists, and one thing that is integral to art is marketing... he is just marketing stuff to you guys, and making you wonder this or that about him. Many writers on the org seem to think he is running a cult, I happen to feel that is a bit absurd.

As for TRC being ant-semetic, I don't think so... you missed the point I think, and I think that perhaps accusing P of being anti-semetic is an easy opportunity to attack his art. There is nothing anti-semtic on this CD, he is talking about slavery, perhaps you might refer to some history books for some more information.

History defines us - so perhaps you should read some of the important historical events surrounding slavery in America. You might also wish to read some history about the state of Israel, then you might be able to understand the oint Prince is making in Family Name... then again you could remain ignorant for the rest of your life!

If you want to respond, try making it less personal about me... my argument is well thought out, and based on some historical fact... I haven't the time to go into it all here, but that is why I suggest you read about slavery in America. Some of the more recent interesting history of Aboriginal 'cleansing' in Australia as recent as the 1970's is interesting reading too.

We should begin to embrace our differences!

I don't know, what's the fucking answer to all of this? I just wonder if people who love to criticise Prince are as critical when looking at their own behaviour and how they can improve as human beings. That's the only way I can tolerate constant criticism of the man.

Things like this happen because Prince is political. His dogma, his music, his lyrics, his manifesto. I use to think his music and being etc was superficial with no substance (and got blasted for it)..after all, a lot of it is just pop (life) music, but its the way he goes about creating, exploring, and presenting that music. There is more that goes on to just listening to Little Red Corvette for example..as an example LRC is a beautiful, if back then overplayed, song. BUT! its was a serious play for rock airplay and rock respect in that it was a classic girl as a car metaphor that was the de rigeur of that genre back then...a Springsteen song that was played by a punk funker rnb artist. His being a black man wearing makeup is another example. His dress is another. His manifesto of a funky chic punkish utopia...Sly did it before and so did The Beatles but him doing it at that time with all of the previous elements mentioned as well as the time that he did, these things makes for a different statement. And the dogma that has been spread thorughout the career even starting with the credits "thank u to God" etc. These things are just as important to and as part of the music. With Prince you get a whole package. Unless you are one of those ones who are bandwagoners or just simply do not care. And those who do not care are NOT on the org, online, in amp, or members of his club. So yes, these things are imortant...it is important and one can not just listen to the music actually. Well you can but sometime, somewhere, a muthafucka is gonna have to say something, make a stand, give an opinion...on something. Prince once said "why cant we just dance"? Because! Thats why. Welcome to The Sickness.
