Don't know if that is the version mentioned but some years ago samples of the a longer version with a Eric Leeds sax solo was shared to some.

This version has a running time of 5:38. The extra verse comes in after the released version is faded out. It's hard to make out the lyrics but it sounds like he says "When 2 R in love, all that matters is you in my arms (or you and my heart or you in my heart.) When 2 R in love...When 2 R in love, he shelters her from lonely, he shelters her from harm. Ooooh bathe with me..." He sings this in his natural register, not falsetto. This particular version is very sparse, with only the drum machine and background vocal harmonies that were muted in the released version. In this version, his main vocal is different from the released version with more adlibs. While this extended version is cool to hear, I was disappointed that it didn't have all the instruments because I'd love to hear the extended portion that fades out on the albums. That keyboard/horn riff is sublime and ends way too soon! [Edited 11/21/22 8:59am]

I was told yesterday that the version with Eric Leeds on it is the album version but without the fade out. Prince seemingly decided to edit Eric out because he didn't thnk it fit good enough.
I would love to hear the demo of it and the full thing with Eric Leeds on it.

Well in my opinion, I'm not sure we could presume that "he didn't think it fit good" since most of the live versions from the Lovesexy tour included the horns part within (and it surely sounds great !).
By the way it's funny as we can hear a live version (Paris 7.8.88) with the exact running time of 5:37 via a famous streaming platform ^^

Those lucky owners of this version must have a good lmao reading our comments !
In this regard, a quick question for them: what could be the rational reason that pushes you not to share it ? (if u dare to tell) ( after editing !)

This placxe has mostly been abandoned by people who have this kind of stuff and they are now somewhere else sharing things to there trusted people (and sometimes let something slip to us commoners at other places but here) but whenever someone questioned them on here it resulted in a flame war.
There are loads of topics on here you could find with there reasons for not sharing things with us.
It;s up to you to decide if you think they are fair or not.

I think the horn parts on the Lovesexy tour were Leeds playing parts from a Madhouse track over When 2 R In Love, not the original sax part from the studio version.
