Daft Punk owes Prince royalties Anyone ever hear the song "Robot Rock" by Daft Punk? It sounds an awful lot like "U" from Prince's Rebels outtakes. When I say awful lot, I mean exactly the same.
The video is even a throw back 80's vibe with Purple Rain-esque fonts used in their graphics. All I am saying is if Prince is not listed as one of or THEE writer of that tune, someone at the estate needs to serve Daft Punk. They look at life through a pocket camera, what? No flash again?

It's well known they're Prince fans and it's very possible they were inspired by "U" but "Robot Rock" is not exactly the same and Prince doesn't deserve a writing credit. The only common thread between the 2 songs is the sampled stabbing guitar riff that has the same pattern. DP's song is in a different key and the notes are held just a touch longer whereas in the PA song the notes are short and punchy. Very very similar but not identical.
Think of ALL the times Prince coyly borrowed ideas from dozens and dozens of songs and artists. Compare "Cream" to "Bang a Gong" for example. All artists borrow from their heroes and get inspired. “To create something from nothing is one of the greatest feelings, and I would – I don’t know, I wish it upon everybody. It’s heaven.” – Prince

All you Orgers, you tube these tracks and listen back to back. Let's have a vote. If Paramore got royalites from Olivia Rodrigo for "Good 4 u" this Daft Punk song should give at least a credit to Prince, not for the whole song maybe but for a partial credit. Its more than a similar sound. It is the same notes, in the same pattern, with the same progression. Just slightly different key. They look at life through a pocket camera, what? No flash again?

Tick,Tick Bang Well that's a sample. Dreamer, he just ripped off a classic riff and tweaked it ever so slightly (annoyingly slightly too, to this Hendrix fan's ears). I actually love what he did with Little Miss Lover. But Dreamer is a bland and boring rip off of Voodoo Chile.

Nobody is gonna mention that the Daft Punk song is entirely built around a sample of "Release The Beast" by Breakwater from 1980? Maybe Prince should have paid royalties to Breakwater.

And wasn't released in any form until years later, so how could Daft Punk owe him anything when they were sampling a song that Breakwater released long before "U"?

Yes it doess have that 2 note stab riff, that has probably been used in other songs before 1979 - but I agree does sound like U by the Rebes/Paula Abdul (although her version cleverly mutates from rock to dance!).
