Best boot for each tour

Can someone suggest me which is the best bootleg for each tour?

And maybe some of the oneoff performances?

Sendai and/or Nagoya for Lovesexy
Return of the Bump Squad for Gold era
Madrid for Nude
Houston for Controversy
Saginaw for I think it's 1999? Tho Saginaw 82 could be Controversy too, I don't remember.

That rehearsal for Nude where he says, "did I say we'd do the show once today? Psyche! Here we go...." is a good non-audience run of the show. I think the boot was Nudity.

I'd agree about those Lovesexy shows. Wasn't there an Osaka one, too? I forget.

Houston Controversy is great. Just stellar stuff.

There are a lot of SOTT rehearsals, in full, that are out. Some have him doing more of the album, and the more moderate "It's Gonna Be a Beautiful Night" version, then later when he did the show more like we know it, and IGBABN was faster.

There is a full SOTT show, but damn if I remember where it was recorded. I think it was called Wonderboy.

Paris or New York for Dirty Mind are both great, but the New York is closer to my heart since it was on my birthday.

The Purple Rain shows were so fucking similar, it comes down to how good was "Take Me With U," how long were his fucking talking moments before "Do Me Baby" and after the piano segment, and how funky was "Baby I'm A Star."

Le Zenith for the Parade tour (Paris) is so great, and it's where "It's Gonna Be a Beautiful Night" was recorded. But, the original boot leaves off the last 4 songs, after "1999." But audience recordings of that last section do exist. Stockholm is also a great show.

There's a Gold era aftershow in Brussells that I've listened to for years, on Hallowed B Thy Name, and the video popped up after he died. It was a full circle moment.

Emancipation Philadelphia is good. I have it on VHS somewhere.

Of course things like Trojan Horse are beyond necessary. It's a full on journey.

Sorry, it's the Hodgkin's talking.

Yes there is also Osaka! I think Sendai is my favorite, but I also have a soft spot for Nagoya (and his wailing "Nagooooyaaaaa").

Le Zenith is fantastic! That and Detroit have to be my favorites from Parade. Detroit is the birthday show right?

I don't know if Return of the Bump Squad counts for Gold era but that is def my favorite boot of that tour next to the shows on the Budokan set.

I feel like the SOTT tour was pretty predictable - once you hear the full show, you've really heard them all. Similar to what you say about the PR tour. I think his variation of the setlists during the main shows became a bit stronger post NPG.

Yes - Wonderboy. Recorded in Paris in June of 1987.

And I don't think it was the whole show, either. The average length of that tour was around 100 minutes or so. And since a CD can only hold 80 minutes....

I remember that boot because it was the first time I'd hear that arrangement of "Girls and Boys." There was just something about it that hit me so hard; I was obsessed with it. It was one of my two early favorite songs on Parade. That SOTT arrangement was so yummy.

Sorry, it's the Hodgkin's talking.

I looked it up today. There appear to be a couple different versions - one complete, one not. Not sure what I have - haven’t looked recently.

Ohhhh, a complete SOTT show (non-rehearsal) would be nice. I think WOnderboy is all I ever had for years and years.

There's just so much fondness I have for that era on so many levels. That boot, years later, was icing on a cake that lasted 14 years to that point.

I'm pretty sure the amount of complete SOTT shows out in the wild numbers at just a couple? Maybe my info is out of date but I seem to remember that being the case, and there was never a soundboard complete show until recently? Anyway it's probably his best 80s tour IMO. It's a complete... Thing... Like PR was, except it's missing the creepy stuff.

My first concert ! Don't know why but "Mountains" exists in audience & soundboard recordings.

Yeah, sadly a proper complete version of either of the Paris shows in soundboard don't circulate. 4DF used recordings from the 22nd June Utrecht show to make a "complete" soundboard, so that is maybe one of the ones you have.
The Moonraker version of Wonderboy used IGBABN from a Sabotage release but also missed out the other tracks played, so the releases have always been a bit cut and paste.

I'm hoping that Le Zenith would be part of any future SDE of Parade. As we know the show was recorded for release but never was sadly.
