Sunset Sound - Susan Rogers Interview (with Duane Tudahl) So, watched the whole Sunset Sound interview with both Duane Tudahl and Susan Rogers. I have watched all interviews with Susan and like the interviewer said, she seems to never say 'no' to any requests. Although I have heard some of the stories she re-told during this latest interview, I heard more clearly something she's said a few times. The level of dedication she had to Prince was something very very special. When she recounts her suspicion that Manic Monday may have been in part inspired by her having to come in to work right as her date ended, it was a great example of how dedicated she was. Imagine, you are out…you had a nice evening and want to relax or maybe just spend some time reflect on her evening…instead, she comes right in w/o even taking the time to change. She's said it many times but only in this last interview did I digest what she was saying. She never had time off…she was able to keep up with his lack of sleeping…she lasted 5 years. Amazing.
Something I really now want to understand is her own story. She is a trailblazer in her area…a woman engineer. Were her parents proud of her? How did they feel when she 'made it big'. What is her life like today….she's always been so generous with her time, but we know very little about her.

I saw a clip of her talking about "The Cross," and how she thought the drum track would be unuseable, but Prince was super happy with the whole song in his head and kept going. She's still puzzled by it. Which seems more like an engineer statement than someone who understood Prince on a pretty decent level personally. The interviewer noted "The Cross" and "The Beautiful Ones" were two of his favorite songs.
I need to go listen to the whole thing. Sorry, it's the Hodgkin's talking.

She talks about the drum track on "The Cross" in the Wax Poetics book. Welcome to "the org", laytonian… come bathe with me.

I watched the one with Bill Jackson and Mattieu Bitton. I'm about halfway through it. Sorry, it's the Hodgkin's talking.

Susan, in her interview, talks about how people can *think* they inspired something because Prince would notice what was happening around him and write about it. Welcome to "the org", laytonian… come bathe with me.

It's the other pretender who said she found an engagement ring in her yard that prince's spirit left for her. That one also said she wrote Manic Monday, which is obviously false. She said she wrote others too - like Glamorous Life, as well. She gets on the podcast with the ones who will protect her bullshit cuz she protects theirs. It's nuts how political and weird these employees are.

Susan Rogers was a model... But she really rocked and rolled.. She kept her tears up in a bottle... Poured them out to save her soul... Come on, Susan

I dunno if that is fair - she has by far given some of the most insightful commentary on Prince's music and Prince himself out of everyone who talks about him on a regular basis IMO

Susan Rogers does have a unique insight on his music, as does Peggy Mac, Bill Jackson, David Leonard, David Z, Chris Moon, Femi, and others. Sorry, it's the Hodgkin's talking.

i can't remember who said it, but he'd tell different things to different people just to keep things "confusing" (or to see who's telling stories). Welcome to "the org", laytonian… come bathe with me.

I’m sure I read Brenda said something similar so there may be some truth to that one. . And there was the A6 album in his living area in the photos after he passed so there is a chance they were in contact. But the notebook with the vital missing pages is comical [Edited 10/22/22 13:06pm]

Yeah, the story (I think Brenda?) told was that Prince wanted to wire Apples, Brenda, Susan and Denise some $$$, but Apples refused to give him her info because she thought it was a scam.

Apollonia said that he was trying to right his wrongs before he died. He felt like these women didn't get their due back then so that's why he wanted to wire them money.

Well, the money thing is true! He tried to send 3 women money, but it only went to 2 of them because Apples thought someone was trying to get into her account and blocked it. Only to find out days later that Prince was trying to give her money, but he had already died. I forget the other 2 women 1 might have been Brenda Bennett? Susan Moonsie?

Her claims are entirely nonsensical. https://youtu.be/QXEBDnBfFPs This is not a person burdened by the truth. This is a person trying to drum up interest in her nonexistent career now that her second chance at a windfall has come. Prince wanted to reform A6? Do movies with A6? Pay everyone back money that he apparently thinks he owed them? Pay Apples for "Glam Life" and other massive hit songs she apparently wrote? Prince called her on his every birthday and reminded her he doesn't celebrate them? And yet this person then thought the money was someone trying to break into her account? Wire transfers just come through. And for someone who "lives on hope" you think she's finna turn back $10k or whatever the amount was? She's so full of shit.

Oh, Apples is totally full of shit. I still find her entertaining, though, in a trainwreck kind of way. Remember when she was drunk-posting about Sheila and called her a bunch of slurs? 🤣

Apollonia is a lying drunk nobody takes her claims seriously.

That is a very constructive comment. "The whole problem with the world is that fools and fanatics are always so certain of themselves. And wiser people so full of doubts" (Bertrand Russell 1872-1972)

That's the thing - if it was Prince trying to make amends, she either discussed this before or after the attempt with him. She either knew the money was coming, or she found out and it can be sent right away. We know he would email people to send money. His email records are in the docs. But what she says, on its face, is bs.

It was said at the time that none of the ladies knew that the money was coming.

Love susan. Shame the fidelity of princes 80s records is so uneven though. But that's also their charm i guess. And ultimately he was the boss. He didnt care to get a great sound
