Is this it? No SDE? Bring back Michael Howe and the old estate - all is forgiven! I really loved that collection on CD, especially because of the b-sides. But this release just seems poorly thought through. | |

Prince’s ‘The Hits 1 and 2’ White Vinyl Re-ReleaseThe Prince Estate have announced the reissue of Prince’s best-selling compilations “The Hits 1 and 2” via Legacy Recordings on vinyl. Available November 4th, this marks the first time that “The Hits 1 and 2” will be pressed onto black vinyl.
Additionally, music fans will be able to purchase the two volumes on milky white vinyl. “The Hits 1” will be widely available on milky white vinyl at Target, while “The Hits 2” will be widely available on milky white vinyl at Walmart. Both retailers will also carry the other volume of the two-album pair on black vinyl. Prince’s first compilation ever, “The Hits 1,” was released as a stand-alone album and as part of a three-CD box set, “The Hits/The B-Sides,” in September 1993. “The Hits 1” contains 16 of Prince’s best-known singles released between 1978 and 1993, along with two previously unreleased tracks: “Pink Cashmere” and Prince’s own rendition of “Nothing Compares 2 U,” which he had originally written for his protégé act The Family and had recently become a global hit as performed by Sinead O’Connor.
“The Hits 2” contains some of Prince’s most provocative singles from his early career, including “Head,” “Dirty Mind,” and “Gett Off.” In addition to the 16 popular singles from his first 15 years as a recording artist, “The Hits 2” also includes the previously unreleased tracks “Peach” and “Pope.” Are they going to finally put Prince's REAL VERSION of NC2U on this???

These reissues pointless to me. The hardcore fans aren’t getting any younger and most will pay top $ for unreleased stuff. It’s a no-brainer, start bashing stuff out. It’s win win. |

The fuck?!! Why don't they release "The Hits/B Sides" on vinyl. I would buy that one. Have it on CD. When are they going to release something I don't have on CD already... Anyone know why they're (falsely) stating that this is the first time The Hits albums will be pressed on black vinyl? ..... I mean, especially when the original pressings of The Hits 1 and The Hits 2, that I have here right now, are pressed on...... wait..... black vinyl.
These people are really bizarre. |

I am interested in buying these because I have always loved collecting records. What the estate should have done is had Hits 1& 2 available in stores and then had both volumes bundled with the B-Sides available exclusively through the estate. I would LOVE to have all those amazing B sides on record! Not sure how/why they didn’t do this?!?  |

I don’t know all the details of the Sony deal but may be they don’t have the rights to the b-sides, just the albums. If only Bert/Bart whatever he’s called was still around to let us know. There may or may not be something coming! |
