SOUND AFFECTS

Does any else think some of the sound affects Prince Uses R FUNNY ? like Ummm im a 12 O clock straight Up Nigga >>> Sound ( GONGGG ) that dont a shit that ya Pussy control ... stuff like that or am I the oly one that notices these funny sounds ?? am I nuts ? lol

I like the way he puts an echo at the end of a guitar riff, kind of like he did with The Time in the early 80s. Hard to describe.

actually, prince went through a phase in the nineties when it seemed like he couldn't say a word WITHOUT using some sort of sound-effect illustration:listen 2 chaos & disorder, emancipation, gold, exodus, etc.
in my opinion, it tended to get predictable and unimaginative, and i hope he's gotten that out of his system.

I got bored of that pretty fast too.

It was interesting for a while, using sound effects to convey the lyrics, but if it's at the expensive of a good melody or rhythmic idea, I'd rather he left them out.

I love how he used the "orchestral stab" sound on the 87/88 records - Madhouse 8, 16, Black Album, Lovesexy etc.

It was a staple of House music at the time, but Prince used them differently to everyone else.
