One Nite Alone. However if he had recorded it and left it unreleased I would still want to hear it.

It's an OK album. I rarely listen to it.

Both albums are extremely dated and just plain bad.

TRC - no contest. Took me years to get over that one.

If not for TRC, the bulk of us would've been lost. You can't expect us to go from Emancipation to Musicology (nearly a whole decade) of that same production style of plastique drums and remixes of Insatiable.

AOA is disposable but it does have 4 of his best (arguably THE best) songs of his final decade - breakdown, way back home, time and affirmation.

those songs are basically as good as late period prince gets. almost perfect.

Perfect? Hardly. They're b-sides swimming in a sea of shit.

the other songs are forgettable, lifeless. these songs are comparatively great.

The Rainbow Children.

It was the beginning of the end. Of everything.

TRC was his best full album from 2000 to the end.

Rave. Only time I ever felt P had nothing left in the tank - I was wrong but it remains a deeply uninspiring record.

Well, and what was the jump to something that sounds like TRC? The only real candidate there is NewPower Soul. I'd have settle for that and still skipped TRC to get to wherever. Plus you had all that internet shit in between as well.

But I'm saying that production style from Emancipation to it's evil twin NPS to their bastard mutant child Rave... Same darksided production. TRC was a technicolor beacon of hope that Prince might have changed his style again. And he had!

Have to agree, mostly because AOA into Phase 2 is at least a not-bad finish. P1 is so overproduced and the songwriting is pretty weak, and the overall feeling is emptiness. 1000 X's has a better version, so that's safe, and June...okay, I wouldn't erase June...but I never need to hear it again.

Years ago I would say Emancipation since it was the beginning of the end of my fandom. SO BLAND and mediocre. BUT I like the album today and every Pop album except for The Rainbow Children and 20Ten. I don't count the Slauterhouse/Chocolate. His absolute wortst.

I guess "C-Note". Not because it's bad, but because it's something I don't listen to much.

.

If I have to chose a studio album, then probably "One Nite Alone", for the same reasons, but I like it better than "C-Note".

.

And if we're talking about Prince albums in the largest sense (including related artists, etc.), then maybe "Kamasutra". Or "Elixer". Or even "Pandemonium".
