New World 1995 album

http://www.princevault.co..._New_World

I have never heard of the song Synathesia before.

Intriguing title.

interesting. since the song 2020 is also on that tracklist and has the lyric:

"synasthetics everyone - taste the colour, smell the fun"

Where did this info come from (i.e. former employee/associate?) and is that really the proposed album cover?

I've always wondered what that lyric was! I always heard it as 'see mistakes, everyone'. LOL I did a quick Google search and I'm wondering if it's actually 'synesthetes, everyone' based on this link:

Thank god this album didn't make it to press.

I'm A DJ and Funky Design are some of my least favorite songs of his ever. Funky Design is marginally better love to my ears, but that studio cut....

It wouldn't have been a great album but I would still be very happy to hear it if a copy exists.

Every minute I waste on "chill dumb funky" tracks is a minute I can't spend listening to Bloody Mouth.

I agree the album wouldn't have been great and I'm not a fan of I Am A DJ with the scritchy scritchy scratch. I love Funky Design but moreso the Sonny and live versions with the 'blow your mind, blow your mind' chant in the chorus

naw that wouda been a fun lil album .. much more fun than the exhausting emancipation blandfest .. eye would akin it to the vault of4s album and mildly good and amuzing with minimal cringe .. eye would buy a cassette if they did a record store day release one off

I'd be very interested to hear "Synasthesia" especially since there is a thematic link to "2020"
a short little song that I love a whole big bunch.

What confuses me about the tracklist of this album is the inclusion of "empty room" and
"the same december". especially the sequence. it makes very little sense to me.

Well, the placement of "2020" where it is, is weird as well. It would have been a great little
opening/introduction to the whole emancipation set, followed by something that started the
album with some drive, like for instance "In This Bed I Scream" or such.

But sandwiched between DJ and Funky Design it feels almost as out of place as Empty Room
and Same December compared to the rest of the more 'plastic' emancipation production.

hmmm

The previous config had more dance tracks, but still no Techno tho, more Euro dance trash lol (when compared to the other dance tracks on it)

Not here. Ask somewhere else to the person who has it/them.
maybe he'll share it publicly then (or more privately as it's a private place so it won't end up here)

I've always found it incredible how many cool tracks didn't make the cut for Emancipation. Goodbye is such a wonderful ballad.

Empty Room and The Same December seem very out of place

Empty Room would have worked well on Chaos.

I do quite enjoy the Early Emancipation config that is quite close to this. The undated 1995 one.

Kip Blackshire mentions the topic (as he has that ability) in the truth in rhythm interview 521/522 (juli 2022).

It something that Prince and he discussed.

It's been said time and again that these tapes were not always actual album configurations and they were just intended the same way our Spotify and apple Music playlists are today. He'd pop the tapes in the car and go cruising. He'd also put certain songs on playlists as placeholders where he wanted a certain vibe and some tracks hit close to that.

I don't believe he was actually intending on that tracklist being the follow up to Gold Experience. He was juggling like 5 projects at this time and this is clear when you see how many different configurations a song like The Same December ended up on (same with Funky Design).

And of all the songs on the Emancipation cutting room floor that I've heard, he definitely picked the cream of the crop to release. I don't think there's a single outtake from 1994-1998 that I'd have rather heard on a relevant album except maybe Beautiful Strange (which found a release shortly after anyway).

I would have included Slave 2 The System, Journey 2 The Center Of U're Heart, Goodbye and Stone on Emancipation over the covers.

I don't think it's giving up any insider secrets to share a tracklist. lol

The boot I have is called, Emancipation The Secret Chapter

Slave 2 The System
New World
Slave
2020
Feel Good
Right Back Here In Your Arms
Journey 2 The Center Of Your Heart
I Am The DJ
Goodbye
Emancipation

Yes yes we have the secret chapter and also put together the New World Playlist from the Steve Parke artwork which had

01 Righ Back Here In My Arms

02 Slave 2 The System

03 Slave

04 New World

05 2020

06 Feel Good

07 Journey 2 The Centre Of Your Heart

08 Eye Am The DJ

09 Emancipation

For me 3 Discs for Emanicaption is too much, split down into single disc albums is easier to digest.
