There are many songs, movies etc that you can hear direct inspiration on the main man… Voodoo Child is an obvious one on ‘Dreamer’.

I believe they are deliberate nods to the greats that went before him rather than ripoffs.

Dreamer is extremely similar to Voodoo Child.

I always thought She Gave Her Angels was a nod to Bob Seger’s Main Street.

MJ started doing his screams in The Jacksons album released in 1976, in the two tracks written by him : Blues Away and Style of Life.
These tracks do exist, and MJ didn't know about the existence of Prince.

Then in Destiny in 1978, he kept on his well-known shouts in the hits Blame It On The Boogie and Shake Your Body. And many other tracks from that album.

It's silly to think MJ copied Prince when nobody knew he even existed. Unless you're just an hardcore fanboy just ignoring the very existence of MJ.

I watched the live im blu ray of W2A with my girlfriend, she understood quickly the " Hee hee" Prince did after The Time performance

Prince and MJ were so alike for so many reasons, that's just one of them here. There's no shame at all, just read Prince autobiography when he says there must be a special word for him and MJ to be such genius people.
