Baby I'm A Star: Noticed something

With the Syracuse reissue I've been watching various live versions of BIAS (the official video, the 1985 Grammy's etc.)..... and I realized something or finally sunk in....

.

.

Prince "officially" starts the song with his high pitch scream by cutting off the previous measure in half.

.

.

If you count in from the intro part 1 (just the drums) and then the part with the keyboards and the backwards vocals, then he counts in 1-2-3-uh...... during that vamp, if you keep counting he actually does the little scream on what would be 3 of the measure, but instead he's kinda cut that measure off and now the song is going from the scream being the new "1". If that makes sense.

.

.

Not that it matters but it always through me off a bit when I was rocking out to it and now I know why smile.

Yeah, I don't think he was counting 4 bars at a time. It was more looking for whatshername's band to get on stage, then just wait for the next downbeat on the Linn to come up, and get into it.

Did you watch the official video for BIAS to see if it's the same there? Cuz now I'm curious.

Yes it is. And Sheila's band is already on stage in that video cuz they were already there for IWD4U.

It's also on the studio version on the PR album.

I also noticed that Wendy & Brownmark change places and microphones after the third verse of "big ol' ears." They run back into place before the chorus again.

They do it in the movie, too.
